boot light

Featured Replies

fabia 2002 estate tdi.I have the boot open ICON on the dashboard coming on at various times sometimes whilst driving and other times when stopped in the drive, this can vary from a couple of minutes to about half an hour. I have changed the boot catch/switch on the lid it was fine for about 6 weeks and has started again. any ideas please. Also is it possible to lock the car without setting the alarm as it sometimes goes off in the middle of the night due to the boot light saying it is open (which of course it is not) I have tried with just the key but it still sets the alarm

For the alarm, press the lock button twice (or turn the key in the lock as if you were locking it after its been locked). That will disable the alarm and deadlocks. The red LED by the door pin should stop flashing as well.

The boot light, no idea I'm afriad.

Tried both those ways of locking the doors ,the red LED still flashes so I assume the alarm is armed? Sorry I ment the boot open ICON on dash not thre actual boot light

If you lock it once using the remote, then again with the key in the lock, does the LED still stay on?

Or if you tap the lock button on the fob twice, quickly, does the LED stay on?

(I didn't put it across very well the first time, sorry!)

And boot light, no idea either way still!

The boot open light could be a matter of fine adjustment. Try taking the striker plate slightly in or out. There are adjustable rubber buffers at the bottom of the tailgate and tapered wedges halfway up the tailgate opening that hold the tailgate once you've got the striker plate in position.

Before moving the striker, you can test whether the switch in the lifting door is working by fooling it into thinking that it is closed. With the door open, you'll see an orange plastic part on one side - this is operated to release the boot - and on the other the metal 'hook' part of the lock. Push the metal piece upwards. It will click into place. This is the position it should be when the door is closed. If all lights now go out, then the striker needs moving. If you've still got a problem then it's electrical. Let's know how you get on.
