Setting Speed Warning Speed

Featured Replies

How do you set the Speed Warning Speed?

I have Maxidot and the Steering Wheel controls for it and audio.

Other threads mention holding down a reset button but the only one I have is the up/down roller and pressing that does not change it.

No settings in the Setup either for Speed Warning

Thanks!

If I remember correctly you press the button on the underside of the stalk, then use the up /down switch on the end of the stalk to adjust the speed.

I don't use it that often, and have to fiddle around to remember how to set it.

Yeah. On my standard trip computer you click the button below the wiper stalk until you get the display for speed warning. On mine it just has a little speed sign with a line through but the manual suggests yours actually says "Speed Warning".

If it's not set it comes up with 20mph. Wait until the 20mph starts to flash, then using the rocker switch on the end of stalk allows you to increase it in 5mph steps.

When the speed you want is reached press the first button and it will lock on that.

Remember, the chime when you exceed your selected speed is not very loud so if you have the music on loud you may miss it. And once it's chimed it seems to just flash the display rather than chiming again and again (a good feature IMHO).

Pretty sure that's it. My wife has the car so I can't check. Apart from it being tricky typing at 70mph while driving ;)

Follow the instructions in the handbook?

You do have a reset button. It is underneath the stalk.

Thanks for all the replies. I don't have any buttons on the stalk only the ones on the steering wheel.

Reading the manual again it seems that I have to be driving to be able to set it!

the above instructions do not work for me!

Will try doing it on the move on way home

I worked out how to do it when I first got the car but turned it off as I was always exceeding it (but only by a little) ;)

On the FL you should use the scroll wheel to move through the various MPG, Avg this and that untill you find the speed warning.

Use what ever it is you select things/reset with (press & hold the wheel dial?) then use the dial to set, then press and hold your selection button again.

Completely pointless option in Maxidot IMO - does anyone actually use it? I managed to set it to something stupidly low the first week I had the Octy. Was very annoying during the demo drive I was out on at the time :)

Yup. Keeps SWMBO in check. Esp as she doesnt know how to change it. Ours is set to 75, and it does make her slow down!

I just use cruise, achieves the same purpose I suppose...

Yep, to see how fast I was :D

Actually it is at 243 km/h

Did use the wintertires warning, when I still had the H rated wintertires (set at 220), now I have V rated tires and the bong doesnt upset me anymore (switched off).

Still can't get it to work. Pressing the thumbwheel does reset the trip 1/2 and allows you to navigate through the menus. But it does not do anything to the Speed warning which is stuck at "---".

With the up/down buttons you choose the speed warning.

After that, with the thumb button you can set the driven speed as your max speed.

Just a short click should enter the speed, another click should give you --- again. To enter a new speed.

Of course, only if everything works as normal....

SORRY, didnt read the first posts (or didnt remember correctly). You dont have the stalk......

Should work in a similar fashion to the pre-fl.

Find Speed warning with --- Push & hold the thumb wheel, speed should put in 20mph. use thumbwheel to increment in 5mph until desired speed shown. Press thumb wheel. to store. IIRC should boing at you.

I think you need the ignition on (lights on dash) to set.

Becareful, there are two different speed warnings.

One is for, for example, restricted winter tires. The other is for immediate warning.

The one for the winter tires is in the service menu of the maxidot. Only accessable when standing. Here you are able to enter a certain speed.

The other one, you can use while driving. Here you should be able to set the speed you are driving.
