Has anyone with a UK FL vRS actually seen their cornering fog lights activate as I'm wondering if they do! The cornering function is turned on in maxidot but I believe that only applies to the 'cornering' xenons and not the cornering fog lights.

Is it a VCDS setting as the dealers tell me it can't be done?

Any other ideas?

Hi John999Boy, I'm afraid it is a vcds setting for the fogs. Although I have a FL Elegance, mines and another member who has a FL VRS (very nice it is too) had ours activated by MikeSM56 on Saturday via VCDS. Very chuffed I have to say. Top man is Mike!

The xenons move, but you also have the option to turn fogs on in the direction of turn in VCDS from 2007 onwards.

If I dont mention it then, prior to PDI, will they be OFF from the factory?

If so. Why??

Thanks Mike, I had thought it was Byte 14, Bit 7 Def in Central Electrics though.

i felt quite thick when i pointed out to the guy at work he had a fog light out on his brand new golf only to be told its supposed to be like that

They're not normally on continuously (unless reversing) so shouldn't (and haven't to my knowledge) been a problem. I would have thought that there'd have been other posts if anyone had 'the long arm' on their shoulders!

The cornering fogs are off by default. As they only illuminate one at a time, like mercs have done for ages, they should be legal.

I'm happy to report that the cornering fogs have now been sorted but unfortunately VCDS couldn't help out with enabling both rear fog lights. Another unusual thing that Ben pointed out to me was my car appeared to be setup as a LHD vehicle and VCDS thought it was some sort of VW van! Other things I'd set up in maxidot weren't showing correctly either. Hurry up with an update RossTech....

I have noticed that the beam spread on the FL vRS fogs is really good (much better than the pre-FL vRS) and lights up the sides of the road really well.

Actually I thought I had done but here goes for a bit more! It wasn't until last night that I actually noticed the cornering effect of the xenons properly. Must have been the rural driving and less well lit roads where it becomes more apparent. I can't say if the 'cornering' foglights are different to the pre FL model as I didn't have them activated on that car but, suffice to say, they do seem to illuminate to the edges of the road very nicely indeed. Was that okay for you GriffiVRS? Now if only both rear fogs could be enabled.......

On my VRS, the fog lights don't come on at all (except when manually switch on the fogs) even with the corner lights activated. I have the Xenons fitted to mine and I thought that as they move with the steering, the fog cornering lights wasn't needed.

Cornering fogs only work at speeds under 20mph.

Is there much point in having them enabled with the adaptive xenons as well?

Spec'ed them as an option on my Yeti (has std Halogen headlights), unsure at first but now notice them missing when I drive the wife's car.

Read somewhere on the forum that they are covered by a European Directive, which states that they should only illuminate between 0- 40km/h.

Controlled by steering angle and/or indicator selection.
