Main dealer trying to rip Mum off again!

Featured Replies

Ford dealer nearly killed me by not bleeding the brakes properly after I drove over a tyre carcass @ 70 on the M25 in evening rush hour, so couldnt avoid. Pressing the brake, it hitting the floor and the light coming on isnt for the faint hearted!

Ford dealer replaced the shattered disc, snapped pad, new braided hose and obv new fluid. Drove out of dealership, down dual carriage way to m25, and again peddle hit floor and light on. Handbrake used, limped to dealer. Grabbed service manager showed peddle, and empty reservoir.

After being understandably angry, and manager looking at personally, came back with nothing wrong. Funny how the reservoir was full again 30 mins later!

I was totally gobsmacked by the Ford attitude - these were lease vehicles ,with Ford dealers getting all the work since we could not ask them to supply a bulb( side/head /indicator or whatever ) without asking for it to be fitted(and at what cost for a five minute job).Know some other firms main dealers charge a minimum of 15 mins for a bulb change =approc £15 for a bulb change .

Quite honestly - it would have been cheaper for our firm to have paid for bulb out of petty cash and let us change it than go to a main dealer ,and wait for up to an hour ,for lease co to authorise and then garage to fit .

On oneoccasion ,did go to the dealer who serviced our vans to get a bulb changed - totally different attitude - they sent in the request to the lease co , and sent a bloke to fit bulb ,whilst waiting for authorisation .Asked what would happen if it was denied ,they declined to comment ,but hinted it was cheaper the way they did it ( and anyway - come next service - the van MIGHT need a bulb or two )

I work for the army as a mechanic & we have a fleet of cars & vans etc that are lease cars from lex,if a bulb goes out we have to phone the AA who come out & replace it at a cost of £20 each time!! we have asked lex for a selection of bulbs & we will replace them foc,but they said no,we can repair & service a fleet of landrovers, trucks etc but not fit a bulb to a astra! stupid or what! they have only recently given in & sent some oil so we can top them up instead of calling out the AA to top up oil! madness!

Don't get me started on Ford dealers, I'll be here all day and wear out both of my typing fingers........

Phil
