Just bought 03 Fabia - steering alignment off center

Featured Replies

Hi, I just bought an 03 plate Fabia 1.9 TDi and the steering/wheel alignment seems to be a bit off. With the steering wheel at the center the car will be going towards the left curb on a straight road. I know small cars are more affected by road camber (I just came off a big Rover 75), but I've had small cars eofore and never noticed this amount of a problem. Looking back through the old MOTs it seems to have failed or had advisories quite a few times for various suspension bushes (worn, excessive movement etc.). is this normal for this car? I've never had a car fail or get an advisory for that sort of thing before. Is the wheel alignment problem likely to be expensive to fix? Thanks, Dave

Maybe your tracking is out. my fabia does not pull to one side

mine pulls ever so slighty to the left, but then on adverse cambers it pulls to the right

get a 4 wheel alignment done, should sort it out :) Most garages will charge around the £30 mark, had mine done twice now lol

it will have probably had advises for front suspension arm bushes, these bushes (console bushes) are a known weak point on the Fabia front suspension, a worn or split bush could cause your pull/drift to the left and steering alignment issues

so before you throw any money at an alignment check get the front suspension checked especially the console bushes
