Door wiring issues

Featured Replies

Hopefully this displays correctly

Anyway, on my 2001 Fabia the drivers side speaker cuts out interminantly, so I changed the headunit thinking this was to blame, only it still does it. *Angry face*

Managed to trace the fault to the bit where the wire leaves the chassis and enters the rubber bit leading to the door as poking it makes it work/cut out.

Does anyone know which block of wires/connector it is, and how I would go about changing them (no idea whats at the door end of the wire) and what parts would be needed or if it would just be a case of butchering a new wire into the old connector etc.

Thanks in advance,

Joe. *Happy face*

IIRC all the door wiring goes in through the single large multiplug. There are empty holes in that plug, and fresh wiring can be fed through direct to the speaker..

Ok, I got these pictures of the wiring. Thats the bit on the chassis, not the door end. I *think* it's either in the top black block, or the blue one below it.

Ok front speaker wiring is coloured as follows Drivers side, Red, Brown red tracer Passenger side, Blue, Brown blue tracer. HTH

The whole multiplug can be pushed into the door allowing fresh wiring to be run through, and the grommet goes back just fine with no tension on the wiring - apparently. ;)

Thanks a lot guys. :)

Hopefully that can be fixed over the weekend!

Gotta ask MoggyTech, where do you find all of this stuff out from?

It all started in a scrap yard 33 years ago. Been into cars ever since. Managed to get a full set of Skoda Workshops Manuals, and of course the ever useful Haynes Book Of Lies.
