superb alarm

Featured Replies

My alarm kept going off for no reason.....AA attended and removed the alarm fuse, so now I have no alarm, remote central locking, electric windows or interior lighting. During the day it was torrential rain and I noticed that the indicator on dashboard was telling me that my bonnet was open...but it wasn't....could this be connected to the alarm fault ????Thanks folks

Absolutely it could. Its not uncommon for the microswitch on the bonnet latch to fail leaving you with alarm issues, and often no wipers!

A diagnostics scan with VCDS will reveal what triggered the last few alarms, and would help identify the problem for sure.

I have sorted out the bonnet catch problem with wd40...the light on the dashboard no longer tells me the bonnet is open..and subsequently the alarm isnt going off any more.However........the alarm doesnt appear to be working at all now. Having put the fuse back inI wonder, having put the fuse back in, do I have to do something to reset it. The red flashing light on the drivers\door does flash on and off but if i open the boot for instance with it set..it doesnt go off.

Put a window down and double lock the car (2 presses of the button) within 10 minutes it should go off, hth.

I've just started having the same problem with the bonnet catch. Where did you use the WD40 please? I've been soaking the mechanism hoping that the electrical contact is in there, but no joy so far.

Thanks
