Did you enjoy your Ice Scraping Today ??

Featured Replies

I hope that your right as I expect nearly all cars will have heated screens in the future.

I put de-icer on mine this morning (6.30), was going to do my Dads and Bro's but it was cold so didn't bother

Scraping the ice off ? What's that ? Like Mannyo and Nokia, I too have a thing called a garage. It's got a car in and not two hundred years worth of (something that rhymes with bright). Makes the job much easier than getting frostbite.

A VW forum I frequent were getting together a group buy for MK2 Golf heated front screens.

It seems there are companies out there who manufacture to order.

Stupid feature on the frameless windows of my 3dr 1 Series BMW means window drop slightly when you open the door, the raise up automatically.

Trouble is when windows a frosty they stick, you can open the door but cann't shut it again until it defrosts!!!!!!!!!!

presume they don't have frost in Bavaria.............

No ice in sunny norfolk, but if there was I would pour a watering can full of luke warm water all over all the windows - been doing it for years with no problem

Similar to Shyte Then !! :D

Now as a gent of leisure ,I can laugh at these problems -things I had last year going to work .But now - by 10am the car is heated by the sun , and windows are clear .In any case , I'd put our overheated dog in - five minutes of him in and all frosted windows turn to steam .In the event that it seems cruel - he's got two coats ,one waterprof ,the other frostproof -he's a product of the hebrides ,where temperatures can drop enough to freeze sea water on rocks - I know -I've seen it .He loves it when it getsdown to minus temps - he's just waiting for SNOW .

We had nice swirly patterns on our cars.

How does that happen?

For years I've heard the panic screams from the autoglass industry about using hot water on a windscreen - according to them it "might " crack - might I quote my reply "round spherical objects , often removed when a dog is neutered ,i.e BALLS"

In over forty fears I've never had a windscreen crack with hot water .In fact ,get the temperature just right and it won't freeze up again for a long time .

If damaged, sudden heat will crack it. Done it with hot water, and my Mk3 Mondeo turned the heated screen on automatically if the temp sensor was at 0C. Big stone impcat damaged, and as the frost melts the screen cracked straight to the A pillars.

No I didnt!!! I had to scrape ice from the inside!!!!

So did I ... the other evening there was more ice on the inside than there was on the outside!

No ice scraper for me, just de icer and some rags.
