How much brake fluid?

Featured Replies

Quick question, how much brake fluid is needed for a complete change in the Fabia? I had a search but didn't get any relevant hits and I am just about to order some more. Cheers

Get 3 litres that'll cover it, And leave you loads spare!

I'd just get a 2 litre bottle or what ever size its sold in as it just does not improve with age - unless of course you are doing a couple of cars - even 2 litres is "a lot".

Edit, why do you need to order it, just use normal VAG stuff from any VAG dealer - in normal use there is no rocket science in differant makes grades of brake fluid.

you shouldn't really need anymore than one litre, that is all i've ever used on brake fluid changes on Volvos, Fords and Mazdas

I don't need to order some but I will be going offshore next week so it's easier just to place an order with opieoils or somewhere and get it sent to my door ready for when I get home again.

Thanks for the replies.

Bled mine a couple of times now, one litre about five pounds. One way bleed valve and a little tub (I used jam jar) so you can see fluid oozing out, I think 10m/m ring spanner and a dry cotton cloth for a spillage purpose. Just got mate to pump brake pedal until fluid ran clear. Saved a minimum of £30.00 if allowed garage to do it for me. Taking a important point from fellow member yoda01, it's DOT 4 brake fluid, as informed by Skoda dealer, can't make any assumption or judgement on any other grades.

I litre should be enough DOT 5.1 is the best...be very careful pumping brake pedal it is possiable to turn a seal in the master cylinder.....thats why the garages use atomatic bleeders
