need new headlamps, projector ones?

Featured Replies

i currently have angel eye headlamps in but these are drawing attention to me at night from the police, so wanting to go for a more standard look but i cant seem to find lights with projectors in them, and i have an hid setup so want projector as they are much clearer. can any one point me in the right direction?

If they are not Original Equipment Manufacturers HID you may continue to receive attention from the police. They may well have you in their sights now.

Correct. To be legal, HIDs must be self-levelling and have washers. I know from others' experience on here that the police will target cars they don't think should have xenons whether or not they were factory-fitted, so I think you're flogging a bit of a dead horse there.

FWIW, is clarity really the problem, or do you just want the looks? The only reason I say this is that I drive through the Welsh mountains regularly in the dark, and have never really felt that the standard headlights are lacking...

i find them twice the job at night, i know that they are not legal, however they do pass mot, i wouldn't dream of going back to the standard halogen bulbs anymore, police here had a problem with my angel eyes but dont have a problem with the hid even though they aren't strictly legal

Unfortunalty though, and don't take this personally, a lot of people DO have a problem with them. I would love to drive with some, but having seen how bad some of them are, I daren't for the sake of others.

Not saying yours are bad, but a lot are, hence their reputation.

+1.

There is nothing worse than someone with 'HID' which are a load of crap and just blind you when they are behind you or driving towards you.

If you are gonna do it then please do it right :D

could you not just remove the side lights bit so you have no 'angel eye'?

Would not having a side light be illegal anyway? Or is it just an obtic tube that goes over the side light bulb?

It is on the cards that MOT testing stations will be looking for illegal HID Xenon lights, they are already catching people with cars that use illegal LED lights now. Ill fitting and poorly aimed HID lights are a menace. Their is someone on Briskoda Doing it the correct way and that is with the wash wipe and more importantly the self leveling equipment and I wish him well with it because he is going about it the right way and it will not adversely harm anyone else.

The best, easiest and cheapest way for most is to buy a car with OEM HID Xenon. Just put Xenon in the search box of Autotrader when looking for a car and up they will come. Some cars with HID are amazingly cheep with this facility.

I must say that I have OME HID Xenon lights on my Jaguar and they are fantastic, with a wonderful spread of even bright light that does not dazzle oncoming drivers. I believe that all new cars should have them by EU Law because they make driving so much safer unlike the aftermarket fitments. Perhaps the EU should make them illegal to sell then their would be less around. I do not ever want a car without HID so long as it is legal. Probably the best thing to hit motoring in decades, the next light improvement will be the common use and adoption of LED headlamps.

The only projector headlamps available in RHD form for the Fabia mk1, are OEM Xenon ones. All the other headlamps in the UK at least are conventional lenses. The Fabia mk2 uses projector lenses for all lighing however.
