My Latest Car

Featured Replies

hello everyone, i dont get on this forum anywhere near enough as i should so thought id share some pictures of my latest purhcase with you all.

im also a member on e36coupe.com and some of you will remember i had an arctic silver 328i sport his time last year, ive actually wanted to own my current car for about a year now and when i was offered the car in about 6 weeks ago i just had to buy it ive had the car about 1 month now and bloody love it.

Its a very very rare 1999 bmw 328i sport individual, the colour is called santorin blue and i believe that there was only approx 10 e36 3 series made in this colour (i know of 3 others) its also got very rare individual full silver leather interior with blue piping on the seats and headrests.

spec is pretty much standard, OEM was king for the previous owner as it is for me. The only obvious mods are the wheels and springs, its got the standard staggered bbs rc 2 piece splits which have powdercoated centres and hand polished lips and are wrapped in contisport contact 3's, its also got the avus pack so has the standard bilstien dampers with aftermarket boge turbo springs. other mods include 4300HID headlights, illuminted e46 gearknob, 18 button OBC retrofit conversion and the evo lip on the front bumper.

anyway heres a few pics of the car a few days after buying it...

the previous owner went to great lengths to keep the car immaculate and over the last few weeks ive spent a good few hours each weekend keeping it that way, i painted all the brakes with hammerite smooth black and did a few other bits.

i dont class myself as a detailer, i do all my cleaning and polishing by hand BUT i do like to keep my car clean! anyway i decided to give a proper clean and stayed behind at work yesterday and did the following....

Hosed the car, wheels and arches down.

Washed the car using the 2 bucket method 1 panel at a time using a lambswool mitt and zymol shampoo.

Washed the arches using a trigger spay container with APC then a brush to loosen up dirt.

Washed the wheels firsty using a trigger spray container with wheel friendly APC, then a wheel friendly detailing brush to loosen up the brake dust and then using a megs microfibre mitt and zymol shampoo lastly.

Dryed the car off with an elite care care deep pile drying towel.

Dryed the wheels with a microfibre towel, door/boot shuts and underbonnet with autoglym chamois.

Since the paint was already very clean and smooth i skipped claying and applied..

1 x AG srp, applied with terry applicator, removed with microfibre.

1 x AG EGP, as above.

2 x collintes no 476 as above but removed with elite car care deep pile buffing towel.

Cleaned then polised the glass with AG glass polish.

Dressed all the black bits with AG bumper care

Then on the wheels..

cleaned the polished lips with belgom alu then applied a layer of collinites wax.

dressed the tyres with megs endurance tyre gel.

between waxes i use a megs nxt gen detailer after every wash.

heres some pics of the car yesterday note the number plate change, this is the original plate the car came on and went back on last week...

Looks very nice.

Lovely looking thing Bonelorry. I remember these as great fun and very rapid!

I like that! :D

Looks in lovely condition for a ten year old car.

With a bit of TLC I doubt it'll depreciate much if at all over the next few years.

Yes, when i bought the car it came on the R55 MMO plate which i agreed to let the previous owner have back once the v5 came through etc

The T179 ALR plate is actually the original plate the car came on when it was new and it went back on the car last wednesday.

cheers

Forgot to update this thread, The car sold just over a month ago to a chap from cornwall.

Currently got a re-mapped Volvo S70R to runabout in for a while then im thinking about another integra type r for the summer ;)

Personally I wouldn't have one thrown at me, I hate the things, but each to their own....

It's a nice colour and looks in good fettle, so enjoy it, until it tries to kill you....

If your talking about the BMW if you look at the post above you will see ive sold it anyway

It was a clean car but i wouldnt go as far to say it tried to kill me, Theyre pretty docile and totally predictable unlike some other RWD cars ive owned.......Infact i found it very boring to drive.

Bonelorry, you're just like I used to be with cars. There are so many out there that I wanted to own tham all, and indeed tried very hard to do just that. Mind you, that slowed down to an instant halt when our children came along. How's the Volvo then? Is it any more interesting to drive than the BMW?

Yes there are many to choose from and i tend to buy cars seasonally and have about 4per year, The volvo was the right money and i knew its history so bought it and ive spent a bit of money serviving it and doing a few other jobs.

Its actually much nicer to drive than the BMW was and with 280bhp and 300 ftlb of torque its alot quicker too, The S70R is a very rare model and is quite sought after so will sell easily. I try and buy the best examples i can afford and spend alot of time keeping them like that.

I never sell them due to anything been wrong with them i just get bored easily and fancy a change.
