Which Exhaust Back Box For 2002 Tdi 1.9 100Bhp?

Featured Replies

My fabia's rear back box has started to rust through, so I'll need to start looking at getting a new back box soon enough.

The car has a remap at the moment, body work is staying standard (which might affect what back box tail pipes I get I'm guessing??), and the rest of the exhaust is still 100% from the factory!

What sort of options do I have?

Back box only - Standard or Aftermarket/performance orientated (costs too?)

Full system costs? Is it worth de-catting, changing downpipes? Cost/gains/noise/ etc

sorry for all the questions, I can't seem to find anything listed for the 100bhp 1.9TDI engine on the usual online VW retailers (Awesome GTI, AMD, etc).

How about "a pipe" from where the backbox joins the rest of the system? :D

Most efficient for sure. Will add a little itsy bit more power if already tuned, as well as being a little bit more raughty (assuming you still have cat, etc in place)

I don't think I have seen an aftermarket exhaust for a 1.9TDI either. All of the vRS exhausts have a straight exit (not pointing down like on your car) so you would need to cut a hole in the bumper to fit. I suppose If you want one then you may have to have one custom made. At the moment diesels are not tested on emissions (only smoke) so you can still get a de-cat pipe.

I don't think they make much of a difference in performance unlike other makes of car (eg. Scoobies etc), but they will be nosier, also, the reduced back pressure will make the turbo spool up quicker (less lag).

Thanks for the replies so far.

To widen the search, will exhuasts from a Polo of similar engine (if that exists) fit my car?

Afterall don't they share the same floorpan?
