Wont start unless bumped

one click when key turned

when rolled down hill and bumped it starts but will not start from the key

does this sound like the starter motor???

Any help would be appreciated

If you look at the starter motor connections, there is a heavy duty cable, and a much thinner wire that powers the solenoid. The wire breaks at the plug, and normal fix is to solder an extra length of wire between the two broken ends. VAG skimp on wiring, hence the breaks. If the wire isn't broken, then it will be the starter motor, but 99% of the time, it's the wiring that goes. Common on SEAT vehicles as well.

Look at the starter motor, and see if the thin wire to it is broken. If it is....erm.....join it back up :)
