Random "Beep"

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I was a few minutes into my drive to work today when my car "beeped" at me (sounded a bit like a short "the handbrake is still on" beep/boop), and the trip computer changed from displaying the current fuel usage to the exterior temperature (a whole 3.5 degrees...). There weren't any warning lights showing on the dashboard. This would (roughly) coincide with the odometer reaching 50,000 miles, as it read 49,999 when I left home - is it just a beep telling me that? (although it's already had that service) Or something else?

Thanks.

No, it's telling you the outside temperature has dropped to 4 deg (or below) so there is a chance of black ice on the road.

I love how it tells you this when you start the car, already scraping ice off the frickin windscreen... Very useful feature lol

I call it the 'get your coat on beep'

Yea, it's the cold warning.

wait until you get a cold morning, a low washer bottle and low fuel....BEEP BEEP BEEP ........AAAGGGHHH

<4*, low washer, fuel, headlight out, engine management and service due. They was all on mine last week

Then as it was foggy i also had lights, and front/rear fogs. So i had Blackpool illuminations B)

Yep, just to let you know to turn the heated seats up a notch I find :p

You'll also see the temp display figure flash when the beep goes off. Better to know about it than not I think. The same can't be said of the beep for low fuel though - you already have the guage in the red and the fuel pump icon displayed!
