Boost controller

Featured Replies

hi all, on the skoda octavia vrs can you install a normal boost controller to increase the psi from 10psi to 15psi without any problems?????

Can you please post a link to the boost controller you are thinking of fitting?

link does not seem to want to work, basically its the normal spring and ball release valve or manual boost controller as its other wise known, anyone else got one fitted?

Mod's Note: Link fixed in post above. DGW

i have the dual stage one fitted to my punto running 11/20 psi. improved torque and means i can potter around town on low boost and increased boost when i want to play at the flick of a switch.

you will have to click the products link and then select gated boost control valves.

i have bought a similar boost controller to the one that king j is talking about....

followed the instruction and then took it for a test run! in second i opened the car up and the gauge went to 15psi then some restriction took over and then went straight to 10 psi in a split second!

does this in every gear, controller is working something in car wont let it run 15psi

any idea's?

car is standard and is not chipped!

i am better having it chipped?

boost cuts, needs removing and you could also see about getting the rev limiter raised as well. aet and well lane do turbosmart stuff. gated bleeds are better as you get no overboost, set the boost you want and it doesn't go over it. after that your looking at apex'i avcr, cheapest place for them is ebay.

Why fit an APEXi AVC-R when the ECU can be remapped/rechipped to do the same job? The ECU map will need tweaking anyway if you wish to raise the engine's rev limit - but if the max rev limit is exceeded then car's warranty is voided. (I have fitted an AVC-R along with a hefty FMIC to my son's S14A recently so I am aware of what the former does).

What's 15PSI in bar?

Max boost is 1.4bar IIRC.

Once youhit this the limiter will cut in and reduce the boost....had this when running an N75J.........you can hear the turbo pulsing.

1.35bar = 20 psi. the bonus of apexi is you can set the boost up for the gears, low boost 1st 2/3/4/5 full on. the apexi will also hold the boost a lot longer than a bleed as well, far more refined and controlled

but as they said the ECU will detect the over boost and reduce it back to 10psi

agreed with nigel26!!

i have tried 2 controllers now and not one has worked........ like i say there was something just taking the boost back to 10psi after it hit 15psi!

so it must be the ecu!

got it booked in at skoda in dumfries for this sat morning have the vrs superchipped and still get to have my warranty! woo hoo
