New MAF Fitted

Featured Replies

Finally after over a month and I actually suspect a tad longer! I had my new maf fitted under warranty and what a difference!

I don't remember the car ever pulling as it does now so I'm either seeing the benefits of my mods or the maf has been broken but not fully showing till my coolant leak?

I'm loving the car once again and now preparing for the next phase of mods in the new year :)

Probably the MAF on it's way out, how many miles have you done?

My car seems to be playing up, one minute it pulls like a train then the next time it seems to hold back. Done 91,500 miles so it might be time for a new one as they probably get tired after a while?

Glad it's going better, how is the MPG with the new one on?

My cars done almost 41k

Dunno about mpg tbh as I booted it round to mcdonalds then just back to work. Motorway journey tomorrow so will report mpg then. Hopefully it'll do better than it's usual 52mpg with 48mpg average! I used to get that out both my fiesta st's!

What problems did you have before you got it changed?

I think mine is playing up, some days it pulls like a train, then the next day or the way home from work, it drives like a bag of poop.

Might get a new one in the new year.

Did you notice an instant change?

92k might be getting towards the end of it's life?

Problems were lack of power, feeling of turbo lag and higher fuel consumption

Mpg dropped from 34 average to as low as 21 average around town and would never better 49 on the motorway

Well, that seems to confirm it then, mine struggled to get 47 on a long motorway trip the other day and even in this cold weather it used to go to 55mpg.

Yea, deffinate feel of turbo lag at times, kind of put my foot down and wait, then it pulls and my consumption is a fair bit lower too.

Think I'll get one then after christmas and see the difference, don't think they are too expensive from the dealers?

My car is at 108000 at the moment. I did the cage mod recently and the car drove better than before. After a couple of weeks I changed the oil & oil filter. Then a week after that my car started playing up.

At cold temperatures, the turbo would not kick in at all in 1st. In 2nd the turbo would kick in at 2800revs! And very poor in the other gears. This was quite unsafe at times. But after the car had warmed up, it seems to drive more normally again. I then unplugged the MAF sensor and the car drove much better than before and turbo was good in all gears. I've recently got a genuine MAF sensor and will change tomorrow. I hope this will do the trick. I was wondering what happened in that short space of time? Coz it was dangerous when the car was not pulling. I drive a pd100 elegance.

My car wouldn't pull either. Trying to get out of streets etc

I got quoted iirc £130 for a new MAF but that was my discount so i'd say around £150

I've just got mine fitted today and the car is driving much better than before. Hope this continues as I do plan on keeping the car for a while!

Not sure if this is a coincidence but the car has been going better now I'm back on the Shell Diesel after using the Tesco 5p vouchers.

I know there have been many Diesel vs Diesel threads, but perhaps it's true, the performance is way way up and the engine pulls much better. I'm sure that Tesco will do the vouchers again soon so I'll give it another go and see?

I have done the cage mod on the connector and the other day I removed it and wiped out the excess silicone and replaced the connector and it did seem to go better, perhaps there was far too much silicone in there?

Who the fu....well, who knows.
