if its a vrs then just take the whole wiper arm off and blank the hole looks so much better. and treat window with reain x never have a problem again.....

The pipe is in the wiring loom and there is a join where it passes into the boot close to the left hand rear wheel housing. They often come apart here and repeated use of the washer with it disconnected is not good for the electrics. The pipe also comes away at the motor or leaks internally (hatchback version). It could be something as simple as a blocked jet.

I have just had a problem with my rear wiper, I dismantled the unit and cleaned it out, There is a seal that is an absolute stupid design and can allow the washer water to leak inside of the unit. I have my wiper working again but I have disconnected the washer at the pump under the bonnet, so as to prevent further problems with the wiper unit. If I could find a grommet I may remove the wiper altogether.

You can find a bung! Just pop into Haltards and get a bag of three 25mm rubber bungs for 75p. I ran a fine bead of silicone sealant around the lip in the bung, to be sure it sealed perfectly.

Then you can remove the motor assembly and wiper arm. I disconnected the hose from the pump end too, and fitted a short length of hose to the outlet and ziptied it to something so it pointed at the floor. Just to safeguard the cleanliness of my engine bay if anyone accidentally tried to use the rear squirter!

As westallc said, rain-x the rear screen and jobs a goodun! Looks so much better too.

Fixed my wiper motor a number of times with some success but as a few folks mentioned, the minute the motor internals get wet they will get wet again, as either the stupid seal has gone or more common it is the internal water pipe leaking that can't be fixed and only remedy is a new motor asm at around £70 from dealers.

I have also fitted 25mm (halfords) bung instead

Common fault's of no water coming out of wiper are:

Blocked pipe

No water fluid in bottle(obvious one)

Rear water pipe not connected to motor asm.(can ping off in cold weather under pressure when washer motor used)

Blocked water jets(common)

Join to rear water pipe disconnected(behind CD multichanger unit) not so common.
