...I think I have finally managed to convince my wife that a vRS really is the way forward! I'm thinking a new TFSi, hatch (tho still considering an estate) and although originally planning for blue or yellow, am now thinking Candy White after seeing this (the black wheelss really make it! IMO)...

Anyway - just wonderedd what sort of discount I could expect from my local dealer? A broker I have used before is knocking £3k+ off of list - will I get anywhere near this at all??

Secondly, I see there were some problems with the supply because of the new stereo but has this settled down now? Anyone aware of the current lead time? I'm hoping for a March delievery really.

Quite excited about the prospect of all this - need to go researching the remp options now!

drivethedeal are offering £3300 off the list price of a new vRS petrol hatch. They also have one on offer for immediate delivery with £3551 off the price. I used them and they seemed fine.

West London is where mine is coming from.

I have recently ordered my Candy White hatch through DtD and saved myself £3.5k on list price. My local dealer wouldn't do better than the Skoda 'VAT free' offer which ended up roughly £1k more than DtD's price.

I nearly went direct to Marlborough Skoda (Isleworth, Middlesex) who DtD use, but they couldn't be bothered to follow up on my enquiry so I went through DtD. Still waiting for the dealer to confirm my order, so I will call DtD tomorrow.

Well Isleworth is not too far at all, must be a busy dealer if they can't be arsed to follow up sales calls, but then on the otherhand, it doesnt bode well if you need to call and there are problkems!

DtD use Marlborough, so persevere and cut out the middle man . try e-mailing them , that's what I did and they replied with a quote within 24 hrs. Deal direct with them or if you're not staisfied try Rainsorth in mansfield. Bit further away but at least they answer your questions and matched DtD. That's where I went.

Guy I have spoken to at Marlborough is Mike Don-Carolis; use email as another response suggests if you don't get through.

[email protected]

When I tried to go to Marlborough direct I called them, don't remember the salesman's name, but he was very abrupt with me (sort of 'what do you want' attitude). They also questioned the price I got quoted by DtD and increased it slightly. I then asked them to email the quote to me and include the 50:50 finance quote. Got a follow-up call from a lady who was going to email the quote to me - it never arrived and I decided if they wanted my business they'd contact me, which they didn't.

Anyway, I would have had to go to Middlesex to pick the car up and pay for fuel to get back - with DtD they'll deliver to me so that'll save me another few quid + my time.

lol, in some ways i could imagine the dtd stuff is a bit of a PITA for the salesmen there, I bet that usually looks after itself with a dedicated sales chap and they keep getting their usual customers pestering for the same deal. Might pay them a visit as I'm often in the area anyway :)

It probably is a PITA, but I bet they have to pay a small commission to dtd, so you'd have thought they'd be happy me contacting them direct. Plus, someone has to pay for the delivery??

DtD has been covered, so thought I'd cover the main dealership route. Most don't have the room to match the DtD price - I did a lot of research before I went in to haggle. On top of the VAT deal, DtD I believe works out at a further 6.5% discount IIRC. If you go direct to a dealership (non DtD one), you can hit 4% off (after the VAT deal). 2 dealerships gave me the same price (give or take a couple of pounds literally). The only target I gave them was the DtD quote, so I think the 4% mark is a good target to aim for if you won't want to do the DtD route.

I went shopping armed with the DtD price and eventually got a deal that was within £250 of DtD which I took.

Works out to 5.3% discount on top of the VAT off deal

Dealer is Progress Bedford
