Octavia Short delivery times

Featured Replies

Only about 3 weeks to go until I take delivery of my brand new vRS...........

Spoke to SUK today and my new car was built on Monday 14th and is despatched from the production line

I've just got to wait :wait: for its transport to the UK and its all mine

I got a 'comms number' from my dealer and quoted it to SUK customer service. Their new computer tracking system is now up and running and they told me it was built on Monday. So at the moment it is somewhere between the end of the production line and Emden in Germany but because of Christmas it will probably not be until early or mid-Jan before it arrives at the dealer.

Looking at http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/default.aspx?centerx=7.191&centery=53.3475&zoom=15 I've just got to look out for a ship departing here for Grimsby

The 10 weeks I seemed to have been waiting are just an aberration, a figment of my imagination

so nearly there. Just hope it arrives to my spec and my early doubts as to whether it will have the Factory Bluetooth will prove unfounded

On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love said to me.......... have a Skoda vRS

Mine took about three weeks to make it onto a boat from the dockside at Emden. Apparantely there have been some delays caused by the computer system changeover. I'm getting mine tomorrow just in time for Christmas :D

Ordered my Octavia RS on 27 Oct. Got a call from dealer today top say that he had the car in the dealership. Obviously I will wait till 04 Jan 2010 to get the car (and take some pics).

I think that this was a quick turnaround (6 weeks) but then again this could be due to pure luck or the fact that Irish delivery times are different from UK.

How did you work out when it arrived at Emden docks to your car being despatched on a ship? Where did you get your information from?

I rang the dealer for a progress update as everything had gone quiet since they told me it left the factory and they told me it was on the docks at Emden and how long it had been there from the new computer system and they also said it had been sat there longer than normal. They called again about a week later to say it was at Port of Tyne and arrange delivery as they were expecting it this week. I did some detective work on the Port of Tyne website (it shows you all the recent arrivals) to check on shipments that had recently arrived from Emden to the RORO terminal and deduced how long the car had taken to get to the UK.

Rang SUK today and car arrived in Grimsby yesterday, Sunday. Only 6 days from manufacture to UK.

Problem now is that it will not be released to car transport company until its inspected and it cannot be inspected as it is covered in snow!!

Cars are normally despatched 24 to 48 hours after arrival in port but mine is unlikey to be delivered to dealer until first week of Jan.

Nearly here!!

Mine arrived at Grimsby last week (Wed I think), and was delivered to the dealership on Friday. I went in yesterday to sign paperwork and have a look but it was all covered with white protective film and snow. Still, it's the right colour and has a wheel in each corner!

I'm picking it up on the 29th :)

Well I thought my car was nearly here, but no emoticon-0145-shake.gif

Car arrived in Grimsby on 20th Dec and SUK say it takes 24 to 48 for onward transport to dealer but now 11 days later its still thereemoticon-0149-no.gifemoticon-0149-no.gif

Dealer has now said it takes 7 to 10 days and are expecting it to be delivered to them next week, well seeemoticon-0124-worried.gif

Hoping to take delivery on 16th Jan 2010

I saw a Red FL VRS today emoticon-0100-smile.gif

I can only think that a combination of bad weather (snow), and the Christmas holidays have caused the delay as mine arrived in Grimsby on the Wed and was at the dealers 300 miles away 48 hours later on the Friday.

Still, not long now. Don't forget to get your Skoda free 7 day insurance sorted out a few days before collection

Well finally got to see my new car today. emoticon-0144-nod.gifemoticon-0137-clapping.gif

Although the car only arrived on Wednesday afternoon they had already prepared and cleaned the car and it looks greatemoticon-0148-yes.gif All the options were fitted as ordered, I had been worried that Bluetooth would not be there.

One thing fitted that I was not expecting are some nets in the boot. The first one is fitted to the underside of the back section of the parcel shelf for its full width, the second is a small one in the recess on the right hand side of the boot.

Anyone have these fitted to their Octavia?

Anyway can not wait until Saturday 16th Jan 09.30emoticon-0142-happy.gif

Yep that was a nice suprise to me too. Excellent for holding the shopping boxes near the opening if you string it across the floor.

Was Andy his usual jolly self?

The ST is being P/Xed. I did have the option of selling it privately but timing, I would have had to advertise over Christmas and New Year and now the weather, put me off having a go at selling it myself.

Considering I got the VAT off, interest free finance, a further discount, the lower pre October price increase, the extra VAT (17.5%) paid for, I think I got a reasonable price for it.

Yes but only saw him briefly today. I'm dealing through Peter.

Andy and I were colleagues selling cars together at The Car Shop in Northampton about 10 years ago but I did not know he was working at Progress Bedford when I did the the deal with Peter

Thanks for the tip with the nettingemoticon-0148-yes.gif

Made a list of all the things I need to take and check overemoticon-0144-nod.gif

It seems a lot of people have taken delivery in the last 2 to 3 weeks

I would suggest getting them to check the alarm has not been triggered many times, I (and a few others) have suffered this and it seems too many to be just by chance.

m0bov Sorry, not with you on this one.

Why would the alarm have been triggered and even it has why would that be a problem?

Thanks

Great - at least the snow has gone now and it's warmed up a bit so roads shouldn't be icy. Looks like it's worked out perfectly for you, apart from the rain
