Winter tyres or chains

Now that winter is here has anyone fitted winter tyres to a skoda roomstewr with 17" rims Are chains available to fit the low profile tyres? I have also heard of snow socks being a reasonable alternative for short distances - has anyone tried them ?

The manual specifies chains only for 14 or 15 in. rims. My R3 has 205/45 x 16 which is a pity as I thought I would buy a set of chains - that being in my experience the best way to assure snow-free motoring!

Fit 4 winter tyres it is no contest!

I’m running winter tyres (Vredestein Snotrac 2s)at the moment and they are brill-eee-ant in the current snow and icemoticon-0148-yes.gife.emoticon-0100-smile.gif

I would have thought tyres would be the best option.

How far would you want to drive on chains?
