I was wondering what sort of times people have had in there Furby vRS?

I currently own a mk2 Clio 172 and will shortly have to travel 110 miles a day to and from work!

The Clio gets to 60 in 7.1 and a hundred in 18.9 and am worried if I change to a good TDI (Ibiza Cupra or vRS) I will miss the performance.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Snap I used to own a 172 Mk2, performance wise the 172 will leave it for dead 0-60, in gear time there isn't much difference TBH. 0-60 isn't a diesel speciality.

I love the furby as it is built so well compared to the 172 and even if I was offered a 182 I still wouldn't take it over the furby.

Dogmaul172 also had the 172 before the Furby.

Have you timed you Furby?

I wondered what the real 0-60, 0-100, would be?

I bet the 0-60 is faster then 9.6!

I haven't but 8.5 is obtainable

Also the BHP is not 130bhp it's more like 145bhp standard, well it is in my case and it's not 230ftlb of torque again more like 245ftlb of torque.

At the end of the day it's not all about BHP as Torque also plays a massive part in peformance.

Autocar reckon 7.2 from 0-60 and 23.8 to 100.

I reckon 8 is more likely 0-60 for most people, and the performance does tail off after about 90.

But really, if you will miss the performance, why even consider one? After all, the Clio boys all take great delight in telling me they'll do 40 MPG even when thrashed.

nah they dont do 40+ when thrashed but will do 40+ if your been oh so gental had 53+ in the 172 once dunno how but i did lol

performance the vrs isnt really that far behind day to day. comfort, ease of driving furby wins hands down etc etc furby much better car oh and 500+ miles to the tank not a problem.

but where as clio about 360 -380 and thats 50 liter tank

nah they dont do 40+ when thrashed but will do 40+ if your been oh so gental had 53+ in the 172 once dunno how but i did lol

Well there was just a wee bit of sarcasm in my comment there :D I did have an argument a while back with a 172 owner that claimed he got 40 and thrashed the car.

Mind you, nearly 40 is possible in the vRS even with some silly driving. I did a 40 mile motorway journey followed by about 70 miles of thrashing, an hour sitting in a traffic jam and a further 30 miles motorway driving (all at 80-95) and got 38 MPG which I was very pleased with :D

yeah lol thats good :D i was pleased with my 61 :D

What do you guys think of the Ibiza Cupra TDI?

I know it costs quite a bit more but a new mag reckoned it was equal on performance with a clio 182!!!

I know this is a Skoda forum but does anyone know much about them?

From what I have heard they are very good. The same 1.9pd lump as the 150 golf was but it gives about 160bhp, as opposed to a tuned version of the new 2.0TDi

I love the mesh, the gunmetal 17s and all the mesh, just don't really like the basic shape of the car and the interior is not my cup of tea at all.

I would take the vRS and mod it if you want the performance. Better value and better looking! Mind you, I would say that!

I think the general consensus from http://www.seatcupra.net is that its a bit of a rip off, considering a FR130 costs 12k and will go better with a remap and suspension :)

I almost bought an Ibiza TDI sport until i saw the skoda ;) but i was worried about the horror stories of Seat build quality and dealers. :o i preferred the interior of the fabia, and the exterior grew on me

Autocar reviewed the Cupra and actually said that the FR TDI was a more subtle and rewarding car, and it taught the Cupra a hard lesson in the laws of diminishing returns. Make of that what you will ;)

i think that a remapped furby will be quicker than a clio 172... I raced a civic type r and beat it up to about 110 (on a private road obiously) every gear change i was taking big chunks out of him. he was mortified said he needs a new car now :-)

:D

My Fabia is REVOD and ran 7.18 seconds 0-60 into a strong head wind at Santapod two sundays ago and ran slightly faster than a std clio 172 on the 1/4 mile time and terminal speed. There's another thread on here from someone with vbox timinge equipment that ran 0-60 in 6.8 and 0-100 in 18ish seconds on a revod fabia vrs

Nick C

Cut and paste from old thread - should answer you questions on timings for chipped fabia vrs

Run an advanced serach on Revo code for the full thread.

had a good time on Saturday and it was nice to meet some of you. I got the Fabia vRS Revo'd while I was there. I VBOX'd it on Sunday night and got some fantastic results. Not sure what any of you guys have got but below is 3 runs with a problem during the 0-100 run so I would imagine more like 17 seconds (I ran out of time). The second actually has the same 0-60 and is on the return run on the same road.

I also got a load of photos of various cars on the track.

Cheers

Fook me! Its a quick beast when chipped!!!

Does the mpg drop much due to the remap?

Yes it does.

Yes it does.

Uses a lot more now when you cane it, but driving it sensibly I actually get better MPG than when standard. I am regualry returning 60+ to the gallon on A road on way home from work taking it easy . All round the computer confirms it has dropped to 46ish over a 1500 mile test. Used to be 48ish

  • 1 year later...

boo hoo, all this talk of fast vrs furbys makes me want mine back!! oh well have to put up with my 216 rover for the time bein till my funds are greater then i will return to the skoda scene with out a doubt!

I currently own a mk2 Clio 172 and will shortly have to travel 110 miles a day to and from work!

Is this a permanent work location? If so, move house - life is far too short to spend 110 miles (~2hrs) sitting in a car every day! I recently moved, replacing my 25 mile each way (35-40 min) drive with a 15-20 min walk. Seriously driving that far to work everyday can't be worth it.

I've always wondered what the 0-100 time was of just a remapped Fabia.

Standard

0-60 - 8.5secs

0-100 - 24 secs

1/4 mile - 16.5ish

Remapped

0-60 - 6.6-7.1 secs

0-100 - 17-18 secs

1/4 mile - 14.8 - 15.2 secs

Mines a Beeza tdi sport (same engine tho)

14.89 secs @92mph

161bhp at the wheels

And a hell of a lot lighter! Isn't it?

And a hell of a lot lighter! Isn't it?

I always wondered why the ibiza is supposed so much lighter than the fabia? They both have the same chassis/engine/box combo don't they? Equipment levels are similar so what gives? Do VAG put a concrete block somewhere in the fabia to weight it down? In the dutch version of topgear magazine the fabia vrs is listed as 1240kg.
