To be fair I haven't given it a good drive yet, only did a couple of 10 minute trips in it at the weekend and was driving miss daisy coz of the fuel line issue. Hopefully once that's fixed I can take it round a roundabout or two. I just remember driving Simons car in Germany last year (he's got the 22mm fixed rather than adjustable) and I could have sworn it felt tighter.

so yours is adjustable?

get it on thickest setting....

I just cant see how 22mm is enough, i havea 25mm and am wondering if i shouldnt have a 28mm.

It will def feel tighter with the arb on, that is to say less roll round corners, when i put my eibach bar on the difference was like night or day, really whether or not you have coilovers on should make little difference as you should see an improvement whatever!

Same here. 3 settings. Soft, medium and hard. Mine is currently on soft and having just done a 5 mile trip there is a huge improvement in the car feeling overall much tighter with little roll going around bends/roundabouts. No horrible clunks or noises at present, so despite the install seemingly a bit wrong, it does feel much better. Part of this will be the Weitech's i'm sure, as the car is also sitting about 25mm lower, but i still noticed the difference once the RARB was on. As i get accustomed to it, that is i start driving faster around bends, i will change the settings. As i don't do track days, i am pretty happy with the 22mm, and for £150, it was a bargain. The Neuspeed was a lot more money, and it is a matter of working to my budget.

Sorry with Coilovers on makes a hell of a difference as you are not getting as much roll on the chassis. And depending on the setting of the coilovers agreed.

The 22mm Whiteline is a great mod and is one of the best handling mods for price and compliments the standard chassis very well. You start stiffening chassis with coilovers and poly bushes and you are going to see less effect on a RARB certainly the 22mm. I feel the whiteline because i can now take the car quicker round roundabouts etc. Though for what i have done to my car including R32 FARB i will be going for a 25mm / 28mm to compliment further. Certainly when Shround and Chicken_eyebrow get better confidence on how far to take it will notice it more. I have almost got back end sliding

Can't wait for that  , I'm thinking about remap next, but will have the wait for the pennies to stack up again and no motoring woes in the meantime.

Is that a black one, I thought these were grey.

Just to be different i painted mine brake caliper green.

Also think mine is the older style fitting as the newer ones seem to fit direct to the rear shock housing instead of there own bracket.

That's right. The Whiteline is grey (at least mine is). I think the darker colour on Chicken eyebrow's is because of the lack of light under the car. And right again that the newer style fixes directly onto the bottom of the shock mount by replacing the shock mount nut with a longer version supplied with the kit. The rest looks pretty much the same as yours, except the adjustable has three holes each side. My links though are at about 45 degrees unlike yours which are vertical. I assume this doesn't matter, as in order to get the right/best position on the main beam only the hardest setting is likely to result in vertical links.

Green looks good though. Whiteline should do a special Skoda edition and pay you a royalty for the idea.

No dont get me wrong....maybe i didnt explain myself properly, coilovers always make a difference, point i was trying to make is fitting the roll bar alone will make a difference and you should notice it coilovers or not.

Put it this way, if i could only do one thing to the suspension i would do the rarb as although the coilovers start sorting the octavias handling out the rarb really does make a bigger difference overall in that it changes and reduces the understeer characteristics that are a massive problem in the stock vrs model.

I have literally changed my cars handling by changng and uprating everything to r32/lcr spec something that needs doing before power increase past my curent map, when you getting your bits done too Mark?

Ok that is a different matter then matey, not quite as you put your other response, but understand where you are going with it now.

Yes agree RARB is one of the most significant stand alone mods for handling.

Well my car is about where i need it apart from i will be getting R32 / TT cast wishbones soon(when i can find a set at a reasonable price) to allow a better angle on the front hubs as my car is quite low. Also will be getting a R32 / TT steering rack again when i find one.

Sweedish is noramlly the parts hunter on here.......

I have R32 / LCR . Audi S3 parts so the car is getting more of a hybrid now.

Still may go K03s hybrid but mileage on the car is 130,000 so do not really want to tempt fate and over push it further.

just my bad phrasing lol

ps.....i am sweedish Mark ;) well im not actually im half italian but thats a different story.....

Is that a black one, I thought these were grey.

I painted the bar and the brackets with a couple of coats of black hammerite, just to give it a bit of extra corrosion protection as I remember all the posts a couple of years ago about the bars starting to rust after a year or two (although I heard they sorted out that issue). I'm hoping once it's been on the car a while and got a bit dirty it will blend in with the rest of the rear beam and look OEM.

Ha ha like it Oet...

Then

la parte posteriore anti roll bar è la cosa migliore che sul telaio.

Ah thought you painted it.

Yep i painted mine coz it was getting rusty as the paint surface was poor.

I will be looking at getting the 24mm adjustable ARB if they ever come into stock.

I didn't think of doing that. I guess mine will become black soon enough though if i drive through enough grime. I suppose i could be lazy and just paint it while it is fitted  I really like the caliper green though.

I noted my Weitech springs were yellow like yours, even though they have historically been green. I wonder if KW are using the same springs as on their more expensive coilover options to save production cost?

I looked that up on one of the VW forums and it seems that from Jan 2010 onwards Weitec started using yellow springs made on the KW production line instead of the green ones.

Did think about painting mine green as I quite like Bowders one and it goes with the calipers but when I saw my springs were yellow rather than green I thought I'd go with black otherwise it would start looking like a christmas tree under the car

Go yellow instead.......

Shame they don't put the KW shock's in the Weitec box as well, as that would be a deal......

I fitted my H&R rear 25mm ARB today.

Initial impressions are its very good, can definitely feel the back end being stiffer, and can hold a better line through long sweeping bends at speed. Admitedly, testing it in the pouring rain made it difficult to exploit all the benefits, but they are there.

Looking at some of the pictures in this thread, I can comment on the fixings used to clamp the bar to the rear beam are not that great on the H&R one. Theyre metal straps that you tighten with a bolt, and are really fiddly and not too well thought out in my opinion. The U-Clamps seem a much better solution to me. My bar also bolts directly onto the suspension lower strut, using a longer bolt to go through and hold the shock. This was annoying too, because when I removed the old bolt the shock immediately extended itself to prevent the new bolt being slid through. After some gentle persuasion with a hammer I got the shock to comply.

your sposed to support the shock in place mate,

also they shouldnt be that tight so if yours was hard to get into the beam Id say its been overtightened at some point and squashed the beam bracket a tad?

When I fitted the 22mm whiteline I even noticed the change in the slow corners and on roundabouts goint slow. They make a mahoosive difference to the car and should not even of been sold without one IMHO

billy

Bit of a thread hijack, but has anyone noticed that RARB's make the car a bit more sensitive to camber changes? I have a 22mm adj whiteline one (Which has nearly gone orange with rust, matches the rest of the suspension now lol)

didnt really notice, mind I had 8x18 rims so that didnt help.

Take it off and paint it lol

I did my Whiteline once a year. I did the one off the other car too before I sold it. That one is the one of my car which is for sale too. (advertise it all I can lol)
