I have the whiteline adjustable arb on mine and its the best handling mod on the car. Cornering improved dramatically and it made the whole car so much more predictable.

Neuspeed 28mm Rear ARB from Awesome as they have 20% off.

Jabba ARB on mine. Handles like a go kart.

I thought you had a Fabia?

I'd say the Whiteline 22mm adjustable or if you wanted something a bit thicker that'll give a bit more over steer, then Whiteline 24mm adjustable.

Fitted Whiteline 22mm adjustable from Balance Motorsport 18 months ago, improves the handling loads.

Do a search for comments from users, should help you decide which one to go for.

Thanks Colin.

Does anyone know what the equivalent setting of the non adjustable 22mm bar is?

I'm very unlikely to ever adjust it once fitted so if the non adjustable gave a middle ground setting anyway I'd probably go for that. If it is either fully soft or hard though I'll go for the adjustable one.

Pretty much in the middle really.

From reading various posts it looks as though i'll be spending my first modification budget of £60* on a rear ARB. as i'm on a budget it seems the Whiteline adjustable will give the best return on my investment.

My question is whether it is an easy DIY fit, and presumably the old one stays on?, as the Haynes manual suggests it is part of the axle?

Any pointers appreciated.

* £60 being the standard sum of money we'd all like to spend on our upgrades, knowing full well it will cost far more. :giggle: It is also the sum of money we think the missus will regard as being not too over the top to spend on unnecessary upgrades

What standard one, there is not one fitted as standard??

I had the Neuspeed 28mm adjustable one on my old Octy vRS and they totally transform the handling of the car

Thanks. Just going by what the Haynes manual says. Seems to suggest it is integral with the rear axle?

Neuspeed looks nice, but almost double the price. No intention of lowering the car, so assume a 24mm would be adequate?

What about fitting. Piece of cake or pain in the ar*£?

The Mk1 Octy vRS never had a rear ARB fitted as standard, and the rear beam is nothing to do with the ARB.

The Neuspeed may be double the price, but you get what you pay for, and mine never ever rusted, unlike some, and yes, the Neuspeed 24mm would be ok for what you need.

Get the best one you can afford and don't skimp, as they really do trasform the handling of the car.

If your "ER" indoors thinks that £60 is ok to spend, then get the dearer one, and print a receipt on your PC for £60..... :giggle:

As for fitting, easy peasy, even in the street with ramps and a bottle jack.

Looks like it might be worth spending an extra £60 :giggle: and getting the Neuspeed one then.

I know the whiteline has been reported to rust , but wasn't sure it mattered too much given it is a solid bar and i wouldn't realistically still have the car more than 5 years from now. Another forum member mentioned painting it with caliper paint, which might work out cheaper overall. Then again, the Neuspeed does look the business. mmmmm, decisions decisions.

i would highly doubt it is a solid bar - just hammerite it if you are worried

the 22mm whiteline is a solid bar.

easy to fit,

mine was a tad rusty but rub it down n repaint and its fine, the only thing with them is the brackets that go over the rear beam are not really the strongest. but again mine are fine and not that bad.

the std car didnt have a RaRB really but inside the rear beam there is a bar that heynes call the rear anti role bar. really its the beam.

the neuspeed 28mm bar is a tube is it not, but then if it was solid it would weigh a tone.

get the 22mm one is more than enough if you dont intend on doing the FARB. you wont regret spending £60 lol

I am looking to upgrade my Whiteline so will be having a none adjustable one going soon on the for sale section, as I will be going for a thicker bar as I have the Golf R32 FARB and stiffer bushes and coilovers which i am now used to so want a bit more.

The Neuspeed rear ARB "IS" a solid bar and not a tube, and being solid is what makes it so good ........................

I am sure ive read on the description its a tube?

mmm, so which one is a tube? Ive seen one of the big ones that says its a tube and not solid. think its the one with the sleaves. instead of droplinks it has sleaves that go over the ARB? dont know what make that is.

that aside tho if your just using the car on the roads then there is not much point in spending 250ish on the Neuspeed bar when 150ish will get you one thats more than up to the job. the 100ish you save can then then go into a remap/ other mods

Some good opinions here. If money was no object or i intend to spend loads of time under my car admiring the Neuspeed, then that is the best option. £100 is £100 though and that would mean i have some money towards project no 2 of my list. The £60 remap :giggle:

Bowders1 - Let me know if/when you sell yours and what kinda price you want as i may be interested and get that map even sooner.

does the arb make a big difference to the handling and likjewise if you have the Farb too??
