I previously had a sony dsc-h5, tbh i wanted something smaller that could fit in a jacket pocket. Because of the size of the sony a lot of the time it was left at home. But with the TZ7 i take it out with me pretty much all the time. The only area where i think it could be slightly better is in low light conditions. However with a bit of tweaking of various settings it still produces results that are more than acceptable imho. And the HD video mode is better than my old samsung mini dv camcorder as far as i am concerned. The fact that it has no manual aperture or shutter settings was nearly something that made me get the canon sx200 is but the bottom line is image quality and having tried both cameras the TZ7 produces better images imho. There are enough settings to be fiddled with that still give you quite a bit of control over the camera. If you check out the Flickr group for the Panasonic TZ7/TZ6 there are some stunning images on there.

Here are some more images i have taken since getting the camera.

SWMBO has a TZ65 and it's a great camera. Nice and small, excellent screen and really good quality images.

Hi,

great images- love the one of Broadway Tower!

It looks a great camera on the review, I am using a Kodak Easyshare C623, which is actually my sons, but am wanting a small camera to carry around of my own.

I have a couple of specific queries which I am hoping you can answer...

My sons Kodak has the optical view (which I tend to use more!) not just the LCD and I would value your opinion on using a camera just with an LCD and if you have had any problems seeing what you are taking in bright light or any other conditions?

Have you taken many close up shots with the macro feature as I like photographing flowers/bees etc...and could you put some on here for me to see if you have!

In the review comments it is noted by an owner that it eats up the batteries- have you found this to be the case?

Thank you in anticipation :sun:

I did have some concerns before buying the TZ7 about the lack of a viewfinder. However those concerns were totally unfounded for me. The screen is excellent in any light, even direct sunlight. One thing i tend to do is use the grid on the screen to help align photos of buildings and landscapes. It just makes it easier to make sure that everything is straight.

I have done a couple of macros of a watch which i have attached to this messages, i find the macro is excellent. If you look on the flickr group for the TZ7 you will find lots of macro shots i am sure.

As for the battery life i also have noticed no problem. I have taken the camera out with me for a couple of days without re-charging it. It does obviously depend how many shots you are shooting and how much zoom you are using but i am very happy with the battery life on mine.

Here are the macro shots as mentioned. If you need anything else just let me know.

Thank you Rob for such a quick and clear reply!

The macro photos of the watch are excellent!! and I will check out some others on flickr - thanks for pointing me in that direction!

Best wishes

Lady Penelope

great photos mate

The TZ65 has the same screen I think - it's the best I've seen on a compact camera and it is excellent in all lights.

Also battery life on ours has been really good.
