ESP and lowering?

Featured Replies

Hi All

Got my Vrs booked in at Awesome GTI next week to have the Eibach springs fitted, one thing that crossed my mind after was I have ESP fitted - not sure how it activates in relation to suspension movement, will the lowered springs effect this in any way??

Thanks

Phill

The lowering shouldnt affect the ESP, tho at first youll think its kicking in too early as you dont appriciate the extra speed you hit corners with ;)

Anyway... how do you find the esp on the fabia? i would have thought it has too short a wheelbase to have any real effect? i was driving a audi a4 with esp and was quite impressed about how it controlled the car when giving it some... the tyres didnt squeek when throwing it round roundabouts! :D

i can still get tyre squeak in mine which has ESP - seems to let you go so far having fun then if it gets too much it kicks in. they probably programmed it just to work in real emergencies rather than when having a laff.

havent a clue how it works (how it cuts power/brakes individual wheels etc) but think the wheelbase would be big enough in theory to have an effect (and know from experience that summat is doing summat when i corner a bit sharpish)

I took Delcac out in mine Friday night and tried to get the back end stepping out but I forgot about the ESP and the car ended up brake slightly round the corners but it was very stable :D I then turned if off for some serious fun

Its quite amusing, if you throw it round a roundabout the back end kicks out and if by magic the car brings it back in line for you - i'd love to know how it works!
