Im looking for a remap for my 2001 skoda 1.4 16v (100bhp). anyone no anyone that will do it?

try any of the sponsors on here i'm sure one of them could help,but i wouldn't expect much in the way of power gains tbh

10bhp however i have got a sports exhaust new iridium plugs K&n lined up for it so im sure it will all boost it a bit

Why is that? Cos of it's location making it suck in hot engine warmed air?

I've so far stuck with the drop in K&N panel filter, which to be fair seems like the better option rather than induction for the reason mentioned above.. it will suck in hot air, unless a proper cold air induction kit is fitted, along the lines of a BMC CDA or DIA type of system. I don't think much gains are to be had from a 1.4 16v to be honest. At the end of the day its still a N/A type engine.. and to unleash power from it a re-map won't do much other than maybe improve fuel economy and maybe up to 5 extra horses?!

To really "tune" an N/A engine alot has to be thought through and catered for.. first the cams require changing to something with longer duration and higher lift, which leads to supporting fueling mods required due to extra air allowed into chambers. Then you got to think about the manifolds, port match and equal lengths, maybe even polish whilst at it.. then throttle body may need changing to find the optimum size.. also exhaust system needs careful consideration, too large and you loose back pressure and loose torque over standard and just create alot of noise but not move anywhere.. unfortunately chavs haven't been educated in this field, so they think bigger is better.. too small and the system will become restrictive and you won't get the full potential of the engine..

I mean there is much more I can go and continue on about tuning an N/A engine since I used to be a Honda nut, and I can tell you, unleashing big BHP from N/A engines requires very deep pockets.

My recommendation is just be happy with what you have, save the money to get the vRS or something else thats quick and let the little fella be =) At the end of the day it was never built or meant to be sporty etc.. the vRS has that base covered, so let it be your work horse and just enjoy it for what it is, an economical, nippy town car, and to be fair mine has lived up to my expectations perfectly! Thats why the only thing I am treating mine to is the panel filter, so I don't need to buy any more disposible ones ever.. and some alloys to make it look a little nicer =) If money allowed then possibly Eibach Pro Kit to get it to sit slightly nicer and have Eibach work its magic on the handling front.. other than that the car does not really justify having any more money thrown at it in terms of modifying..

Unless you intend to engine swap the VW Golf 1.4 TSi engine? The one with both turbo and supercharger and 160BHP.. that engine will then be much more tunable due to having forced induction =) Much easier to get BHP out of forced engines..

Anyway my 2p worth at this time of night.. just my thoughts with regards to this topic :yes:

That would be a mean engine! N/A tuning it hard to get bang for the buck, but with forced induction all you really need to do is turn up the boost and make sure its fueling right and you can achieve a BHP gain with minimal mods =)

tbh i fink i mite just uprate the plugs and put the new panel filter in (thats what i ment by K&N) i would have gone for a vrs but they were too much but this will suit me for now i think. unfortunatly the race driver in me (i have a race license) wants more power so to speak!:) if i get bored ill drop a new engine in:P
