Octy vrs Derv 170 tuning options

Featured Replies

Hi,

got a vrs estate 170 derv.

Put a panel filter and bluefin remap on it.

What steps can I take next to get more out of it. When I got it 18 months ago the DPF's were the stumbling block to more power.

Have there been any advancements?

Cheers

Lee

You can remove the DPF now and get the car remapped to bypass the sensors and give more power.

PD or CR?

You can get it done on both the PD and CR

Any suggestions on what companies to contact to investigate further?

We can do DPF-off on both the PD and CR engines.

Expect to pay in the region of £750 for DPF removal and remap. Expect about 220bhp too emoticon-0103-cool.gif . Excellent value considering it includes a new section of exhaust.

Shark_90 Do you do just the remap or the removal as well?

is that not a bit steep. a new 3" de-cat pipe for mine is in the region of £250, would have thought it would be similar for yours, and you can get remaps for alot less than 500

Yeah, I dunno about "excellent value". The £550 I paid I would say was pretty good value.

Switch your Panel Filter for a K&N 57i or Typhoon filter - this should add 10bhp ish OR this might mean you can get to 225/230bhp with DPF off and remap.

Difficulty for you though, IMHO, is that if you now go the DPF off/remap route you have arguably wasted the c. £400 you spent on a Bluefin. Have you any other mods on the car? It would be worth considering a WALK (Whiteline Anti-Lift Kit) to help you get your existing improved power down.

DPF-off is a pretty big job map-wise.

The panel filter got replaced with a K&N.

I am looking for more like 250 BHP out of it so i assume some "hardware" needs upgrading.

Turbo?

Head?

What think you?

To get that power output, apart from it being in the realms of 'not done that yet' I'd suggest you need, in order, to go as follows;

1. K&N 57i or Typhoon

2. DPF off plus remap

3. Uprated intercooler

4. further 'Stage II' remap; plus

5. uprated brakes

and the list could go on .........................

Hi, first thing, is DPF removal, you cannot go past 210-220hp max with that fitted, so DPF removal and map with the bits you have should see you to 220-230hp, after that, next mod would be a Hybrid turbo, which should take you to around 260-280hp. However you would also need it mapped AGAIN, so maybe buy a spare Turbo, get it Hybrid treatment, then fit it at the same time as DPF removal, so you only need it mapped once... and then save for a new clutch lol

Is this on a PD or CR? Pushing it further is all well and good, but the injectors as well as the turbo start to become a limiting factor.

Most of he tuning information I have read over the years from many different countries has suggested that original manufacturers air filters are amongst the best available. That after market filters particularly those that required the addition of oil like K&N generally lost power over stock and then went on to deteriorate more rapidly than stock filters. That these said aftermarket filters need constant attention.

not sure about the CR engine, was led to believe the Injectors in the 170 PD where more efficient and capable of fueling a Hybrid Turbo, I believe thats what Seat use in the Leon BTCC car?

BTW Shark_90, do you do Hybrid fitting/mapping for the PD 140 engine? (I might be too far away in N.Ireland, but if your price is right Im sure we could sort a flight out lol) a mod Im looking to do in the new year myself?
