Alarm prob on FL still happening

Featured Replies

Ok so local dealer had the car in and run a diag on it, no fault shown and insist it should be ok, however its still happening at random. All they can do is plug in their computer and they won't change any parts until a fault is shown.

The dealer did not supply the car, I could travel to the supplying dealer if I have to, I have made them aware of the issue. Really frustrated they won't do any more, however I am going to contact them again on Monday.

Most likely cause is one of the interior sensors, or the bonnet switch.

No faults will show, no matter how long its left unless the issue is with the control module itself which is highly unlikely.

Trouble is it doesn't see the alarm going off as a fault .....it's supposed to go off.....find out where the owner of said garage lives and leave the car right outside his house every night ....if the alarm keeps going of I,m willing to bet it will get fixed

Are you sure your boot is closed?

A few people with estates had to have theirs sorted.

If you don't have any more luck with the dealer you should contact Skoda Customer Care and take the case up directly with them.

I was repeatedly fobbed off with my coolant leak and starting problem for ages (no fault code = no problem), progress was made when I phoned Skoda and had a rant to them about it.

I have taken legal advice and have now contacted VW Finance, they have a small team for just such problem. Skoda CS was of no help, they insisted the dealer needs to see the fault, however by law its not down to me to prove the problem.

I have e-mailed finance and will wait and see what they say, given the dealer has already had the car, I don't want them to have it for more "checks". Will keep you posted, but so far no impressed with Skoda. I had the same prob with my Mazda and they replaced a sensor straight away and it was sorted.

What's the issue with estates? I do always check the hatch is closed "maxidot" and yet the alarm will go off during the night.

sorry to hear your are still having an issue with this, I've always found the after service very good at skoda if there has been a problem. Which dealership are you using have you considered trying another one. I know my dealer is a reader of posts on here maybe a little name and shame might boot them into action? (pardon the pun)

I have a problme like this with a peugeot years ago, random sensor playing up but could never be traced with a fault, after a year of trying to get it sorted lots a letters and wasted time I gave up and p/x the car in for the fabia. So I feel for you because I know how annoying it is to not get a problem sorted.

This really sound like the same problem I had with my SEAT Leon 3 years ago. There had been reports that there would be nothing showing on the diagnostic but they had to physically check each sensor around the car one by one and only then a fault shows up for some reason. One of the doors (usually the driver side) would suddenly say its open which would trigger the alarm.

In my case, when on a long drive, this would also trigger the door open warning on my instrument display which would then go away again after a couple of seconds. It may not neccessarily be the alarm at fault but could be one of the door sensors and locks which all had to be changed on mine along with the keys.

As I say this was an old problem effecting a lot of the VAG group cars that were built June-Aug 2006 but I wouldn't be suprised if this was still an issue even after that.

VCDS/VAGCOM will show you the reasons for the alarm triggering the past few times i.e. the o/s rear door switch etc. Is someone local to you able to look at this for you? Note these are not fault codes as such, just information that is there to help faultfind.

The dealer is being stubborn and should atleast look to see if there is a pattern, I'll bet the last few triggers were the same thing, and thats where they should be looking.

The problem seems to be the dealer giving shoddy aftercare because they didn't supply the car. Poor show imho. emoticon-0149-no.gif

I've got it booked into the supplying dealer who seems quite helpful, taking there and hope they can find the problem. The dealer local to me said it does not record the history of triggers(?) so I am puzzled. I have gone round the car, rocking it, tugging at doors and hatch, without anything happening. I have hovered over the sensors by the interior light. I will enquire again with the other dealer about the trigger history.

I don't want to name and shame at this stage! But will keep everyone posted.

Thanks to everyone who has replied, at the moment I have locked the car normal, its windy and wet and it seems fine! Is there a way in VAG COM to reduce sensitivity or something?

It 100% does record the triggers, I know from personal experience. Perhaps he doesn't know where to look :p

I hope the supplying dealer is more helpful. :)

Cheers Tomoose, well hope they can sort it, can't believe they have missed something like that, I don't work on cars (network tech) but I seemed to be coming up with suggestions to them!

Cheers again.

Find someone local with vag-com. It seems to produce better results than the dealer software does.

Someone on the german board had the same problem with the works alarm system.

Turned out that a cable loom had been wrongly routed and was making contact with the bodywork (mass problem).

Took a while for him too for the dealer to find out. They sorted it by renewing the entire cable loom and after that there were no more troubles.

My alarm system works from day one. No faults up to now.

Hi all, another dealer has had a look at it, this time they knew their stuff! The alarm was triggered by the interior sensor and has gone off quite a few times! So hoping it should all be sorted soon, they said its 10mins to fit part so none of this "book it in for the day" stuff which is good. :)

Result!! :)

So avoid dealer 1!

Name them both for ref of others ;)

Hi, don't really want to name and shame, but if anyone wants to know they can PM me. However its Marlborough Skoda Isleworth who are now sorting me out, so pleased with them.

They supplied my last 2 Octavia's.

Can also highly recommend Withams in Hersham. They did a lot of warranty stuff, and got all my parts there as was cheaper than Marlborough.

Mine did as well, second time it's happened in 3 weeks but can live with that, sometimes the buses, tractors etc go hurtling past, guessing that's got something to do with it for me!

The sensitivity has now been turned down, so we will wait and see. Ta for the comments, mine started off doing that so it might be worth keeping an eye on it!

Hi,

I was wondering where in the VAG COM you can find out when the alarm triggered. I am new to the VCDS and don't yet know which items are available by which controllers.

Graham

It'll show as a fault code if you do a full scan
