Oil Filter Removal Tool

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

After some advice please. i am about to service my 2006 1.4 tdi Fabia for the first time. Can someone confirm what size the tool is for opening the oil filter housing, i think it's 36mm. I need to buy one of these so any tips about where to get them.

Thanks in advance stu

Most motor factors sell them, even Halfrauds if you're desperate. Can't remember the size, sorry.

That looks like it, yes.

The size is 36 millimetres across the flats.

bought one in halfords recently, its the same as the one in the link posted but was 5.95 iirc, nice and easy, best done from underneath the car however!

you don't need one of those tools in the link above on a tdi, you just need a normal 6 sided socket. i can't comment on the versions of the 1.4tdi engine, although it appears they are all 36mm, but the one on the 1.4 tdi in my lupo is 32mm... tbh if you dont have the right socket you can undo them easily enough with a pair of water pump pliers

Large open ended spanner works well too ;)

With plastic id be happier with all 6 sides in contact
