Hi,

New member here. Bought my octavia about 3 weeks ago.X reg 150bhp. Only done 26000 miles with full dealer service history. Nice car, red, full black leather interior, heated seats, climate control, all the other toys. Took it up to Star Performance today and it was checked over by Jim. He found a cracked valve so replaced it with a dump valve, fitted a K&N filter. Also put it on the rolling road and remaped it. When I left I had 190bhp with 200lbf-ft. Was very impressed with the service, would recomend it to anyone who owns a VAG car. Interested in hearing from any other octavia owners in the area.

Welcome to the pleasure dome :)

Welcome Thomas.

Hi, Thomas. I see you have already discovered the slippery slope to more power. :D

190bhp, I though that these remaps bring 230 ish?, or is the 150bhp 1.8T less upgradeable than the 180bhp version in the vRS?

The older version of the 1.8T isn't as tuneable as the newer drive by wire one.

Yeah it is an old style, not a drive by wire. Aiming for 220bp and at least 225 torque. Will make this easily enough though. Full exhaust system and turbo upgrade will do.

Hi there! You must have got into see Jim just before me. I got my car done on the 3rd and oh I am so pleased with the results. My SLX is now a very happy car, which makes me happy too. my car seems to be the same spec as your (though I have no external mods) - i have a new Alpine ICE (sweet) and a K+N filter. Also got a replacement dump as mine was a bit knacked. The car is now running like a dream and I think it will do me as is for a fair while. I also thought of the K03s turbo but I would really need to do the brakes and possible some other bits an pieces which would add up cost wise. My brakes are split new so not wanting to do anything to them for a while.

Good to see another Scottish SLX driver though. probably speak to you on here soon - what external mods have you done? I have thoght of a few possibilities like new rear clusters. i have also had to spend a fair bit of time getting rid of trim rattles, but seem to be getting there with those. Current project is to fit some sound dampening to the boot.

Later and enjoy

Welcome fellow SLX owner :wavey: Glad you're happy with yours, Cluster. What software do Star use? Is it home grown, or are they a distributor for another chip tuner?

Hi Nick. Jim does his own thing to the chip - all his own work as far as i can tell. They did do APR but he says he is happier doing his own stuff as APR was a bit 'off the shelf'.

I love what he has done to mine - just back off holiday and got used to the new power under the right foot. It is almost like a different car - no joke. The torque is amazing at just over 205 - forth and fifth gear pull is excellent and a bit scary for the first few hours but once you get used to it really is superb. Haven't got enough good things to say about these guys - very happy!!

:D
