went from full to the red in about about 12 laps of the ring thank god i could get tax free fuel then lol.

i reckon i very rarely get below 300 miles to a tank unless i have been abusing her.(remapped cars are quite thirsty when driven hard)

max i have ver had is about 400 on a cruise control drive from where i lived in germany to tidworth in uk.(fully loaded car as well)

between 320 and 380 on a mix of roads-petrol

The most I've eeked out of my petrol vRS was 460 miles on a return trip to Norfolk from Gosport, very light footed!

I get between 250 and 300 from mine but I do drive in town a bit

Oct 2 VRS Limited Edition 2.0D 170 CR

from full to around 50miles left in tank when I refill gives between 400-500 miles depending on how playful I'm feeling. Even all only going around town I've never had it below 400.

550 - 620 miles range depending on driving style on my PD170 TDI vRS.

wega3k - that is nothing short of amazing! What sort of journey are you doing to see up to 620 miles? Staggering! The best I've had (same car, though estate not saloon and a Bluefin remap) was around 500 to a tank. I do have roof bars on all the time and only fit the bike carriers when needed - quite what difference that makes I'm not sure? Am going to remove the racks and bars for my next trip to compare...

Recent trip to Wales with bike racks AND bikes attached - managed 43 mpg which I thought was damn good.

About 350 in the petrol, and 450 in the diesel, if driven in similar ways I reckon.

I guess I do relatively few trips in town when the traffic is bad. My regular motorway trips take me through a long 50mph average speed check which helps boost average fuel consumption. Other than that, I use cruise control a hell of a lot and I read the road ahead well, avoiding unnecessary braking. I'm certainly not a slow driver though.

I drove from JKM Portsmouth back to Ireland 38 mpg and 450 ish out of the tank on a KO4 tuned car

You clearly don't deserve that K04 conversion then! :p

Christ thats about the same as I get out of my 1.9 PD!

Just been reading the comments on Tom_vRS's spritmonitor page... 'Lots of hard driving', 'VERY fast driving', 'Lots of very fast driving'.

Oct 2 Combi VRS TDI PD 2007. I refill every 650 km ( about 400 miles).

Petrol vRS here and manage between 320 to 360 miles to a tank

560 to a tank, 49/50 mpg, with sensible brisk driving. go for diesel if you do the mileage, just watch out for the wicked dpf monster :(

which shouldnt affect you but it does! 9 dpf fault readings in 20000 miles in 9 months ownership, hardly tootling about town, more like a vw group known fault ( quoting a skoda master technician ) but do they really know how to fix it????, our car getting ditched before the warranty runs out at 60000, i couldnt afford to run an unreliable vrs after the warranty goes, skoda tech couldnt give me a price to get this fault fixed out of warranty, our car is now on first name terms with the local servicing dealer even when i park in a street near to the garage they call me telling me they cant find my keys!? , still waiting for extended warranty details to come nearly a month after being requested, they obviously DO NOT CARE!!!!!!!!! as the first dealership was ditched after comparable non interest. if the dpf warning goes the car now comes straight with no booking to the master tech due to the amount of times we have had the problem, the buying dealer we gave up on as they were worse than useless. Hardly the service and reliability we were looking for when we bought into the brand. Skoda dealerships you are now missing the trick....give back up support to a good if not perfect product.

BTW buy the diesel and you will waste so much fuel running the regen that you might as well be running a petrol plus safer, running at 50 in 4th gear for 15 mins on the m8 is nearly suicidal just to fix a problem that should never come up in the first place. At the moment I would say do yourself a favour and buy out with the vag group altogether. 29100 miles to go and counting. Car would be sold already due to the reliabilty issues if the wife had her way, unfortunately we cannot afford to lose any more money than we will when we trade this sad, sorry effort of a car in at 60,000. Took a gamble on Skoda but they let us down, I would love to think the car is going to improve over the next 30000 but we are bracing ourselves for more rubbish in the next new year. Might even post the whole history of the vehicle from day of purchase if anyone would find beneficial, certainly wouldnt be the 2 service managers i've had the pleasure of dealing with up to now. If I was a potential buyer due to personal experience with 2 skodas I would be ignoring a vrs and going elsewhere.

I have a FL TSI vRS which has only 2500 miles on the clock...

I did a trip to Slough from N Wales recently, mainly motorway and A road in the dark/raining and snowing on the way back!! it was 400 mile round trip and averaged 37/38mpg as per the trip computer. I use Vpower and was not that lightfooted :giggle:. Maybe it will get better with decent weather and the engine loosened up a bit more? I must admit I have driven diesels for 15 years prior to getting this car and I still struggle to the best out of the petrol engine :smirk: !

wanna swap?? :D

Never below 550 on a regular 70 mile round trip commute mainly motorway with 4 miles to the M3 and around Heathrow. Just averaged 600+ on a M1 trip. ;)

Diesel vRS PD

Have PD TDi VRS

Average about 420 to 440 but do a few short trips...

Averaged 45 mpg on the way to Devon but roads not that clear...

Had for 2 weeks so still getting used to but i no worse than the old PD 140 I had...

Cheers

Having said all the above, I've just returned from a trip to Suffolk. 120ish miles each way, no bike racks, averaging 5mph below max speed on all roads, I managed 48.6mpg there, 46.0mpg back. Can now understand wega3k's claim of up to 620 miles to a tank - mine was indicating a possible 600 and improving all the time. Its pretty boring driving like that but am well chuffed with what's possible, especially with prices on the up.

I have managed to get Just under 620miles out of a Petrol vRS (it is Stage 2+ remapped with Fuel setting of 9 when on motorways) but usually around town me/the missus get around 400miles to a tank and motoways 550+ driving at 70mph on cruise

Remap it. Your economy goes up with normal driving. But goes down at an alarming rate when you press the warp drive :D

Carl

nutcracker - I would say that the most important thing is getting in both cars and seeing which one suits your driving style the best.

When you do the maths and take into account the extra cost for the diesel cars and the fact that diesel costs slightly more per litre you realise that over the first couple of years your overall spend won't be much different. Do the calculations and you'll see what I mean.

If mainly local journeys 260, longer journeys 320-350. But we have a roof box. Petrol VRS 24k miles 3.5 years old. Journey into and through london - traffic really hits the economy. Sit at 70 seems to indicate 35ish so that would be > 400 on a long run!
