...and a proper "OFF" button for the stupid touch screen stereo !

What's wrong with pressing the volume knob to turn on/off? Works fine on my Bolero.

think its got to be:-

4 x 4 vrs available (or one of the systems thats 2 wheel drive until the going gets tough and it goes into 4 x 4)

side airbags as standard,

keyless entry and start,

Multifunction steering wheel either as standard or as an option with non DSG

My car's non DSG and has a multifunction steering wheel.

As I've said many times... petrol is fast catching in economy (since it beast derv hands down in every other area....), and we'll see it out-do diesel within the next few years :)

meant across the range its daft that you can have multi function on some and not others like the VRS

The thing that bugs me more than anything, is the lack of steering wheel mounted audio controls on the vRS (if is isn't a DSG).

Trying to think back how long it has been since I have had a car without controls either on the steering wheel (Honda) or by the side (Ford on all models at no charge!).

So not a new option, but a lack of a rip-off.

Im with GriffoVRS the main thing that annoys me about my VRS is that id like to have controls for the stero on the steering wheel.

Folding mirrors would be good.

LED lights would be an improvment reducing maintenance costs.

Always liked liked the hydraulic bonnet lifters too.

Other than that i feel all new cars not just Skoda should be fitted with Bluetooth as standard to stop people using phones while driving.

And a few years down the line Sat nav as standard in all cars as most people now have a tom tom or equivelant.

as long as the sat nav software is TomTom, as we all know OEM satnav is shocking to say the least.

The bonnet lifter kit can be bought from superskoda and is very cheap.

With carriage charges and credit card surcharge it comes to 59 euros, about £55. IMO not cheapemoticon-0149-no.gif

So folk still need educating - and it's always those without it emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

£35 for the lifter is a good price, the carriage and surcharges are not so good.

They can't be the only place to do them.

I'll get a hunting.

EDIT: Found some, FK-Automotive.de, £15.91 to fit Octavia 96-onwards, £8.91 delivery to UK

A big thanks for finding that, a much more reasonable price.

It says its for octavia 96-

Would they fit a 2010 FL VRS?

Well, I'm too old and too new an Octy owner to relate to much here, but what I've been wanting to see in any new car for ages now is:

1. Bodywork structure and pressings designed with input from acoustic/ airflow engineers so that inherently the panels don't drum or act like a low frequency organ pipe when driving with windows or other orifices open. This seems reasonably OK on the Octy, although the weather hasn't yet been much good for window down driving, but on other vehicles I've had LFairflow buffeting and drumming over rumble strips etc has been dreadful.

2. A base model simple version aimed at genuine economy and home maintenance. Maybe a non-turbo diesel.

3. Any vehicle with ecu and other electronics to be fitted with an on-board diagnostic kit to display errors as they happen using the trip display, but also feeding live data to a usb port so that a laptop can be connected to record and log live errors as they happen.

4. Full service manuals and parts lists available in pdf format on line for download.

Hi Phil,

I live at the bottom of a hill and habitually turn the music off at the top (to save the neighbours from my tastes ) & cruise the 1/2 mile to home.

Pressing and holding the radio for 5 secs to turn off is totally silly in my opinion and not that easy on our poorly surfaced roads round here.

For me; click (or switch) ON/OFF is far better

Cheers

I take it you haven't got an MFD3 then?

What is your opinion of the SatNav then?

Mine is that it is the best satnav i have used. Yes TomTom's have speed cameras (you can add them as POI on the MFD3) and 7 Digit Postcode Search. I manage no problems on 5 though.

But as a complete Navigation and Entertainment system it is absolutely fantastic. Might be expensive as an option but i would save myself £1350 and just get one off ebay and retro-fit (as i did)

A DPF less option?

Couldn't have said it better myself

Have yet to receive my Car, so nope I haven't.

I have used many OEM units and have yet to use one that was easy to use and accurate. I'll save my opinion on the Skoda version until I've tried it.

There is no denying that a single unit that can offer a multitude of functions displayed in the dashboard the way it does in an OEM usit is the best option if you don't want to clutter your dash with a portable SatNav device.

Why they can't use a 7 digit postode search is beyond me.

  • Google Search on the MFD - once you've had it you REALLY miss it when driving in a strange town
  • Improved soundproofing
  • More hardwearing interior surfaces - door armrest.
  • Thicker steering wheel - think Golf GTI
  • Better fuel economy - 41mpg on a 300+ mile trip from Brighton to Norwich and back is just taking the **** even with my "unique" style of driving.......
  • More interior trim options
  • More wheel options including 19" for the freaks out there!
  • Steering wheel audio controls - a BIG contribution to road safety IMHO
  • Improved iPod integration on the MFD - current setup is OK.....just
  • Auto dip mirrors when engaging reverse
  • Easy clear windows - current rear screen is a PITA
  • Proper postcode search not the ridiculous current system which is only just adequate.

Cost probably

As for accuracy. As long as your antenna is situated properly you will get good reception. I always get at most only 2 less than actually visible (10/12 for example) so it is very accurate i even did a side by side comparison with TomTom 720T before i sold it and it was no different. I recently did it with Co-Pilot 8 on my iPhone and TomTom on my iPhone and again there was no difference.

TMC works well too in giving you good traffic info and the unit will auto re-route if you want it too.

PMSL!!! - Well said Bimmaemoticon-0140-rofl.gif

1. A redesigned tailgate that doesn't dump 30 litres of water on you when its opening after being out in the rain or snow.

2. DSG and diesel mandatory on the vRS with non of that unleaded nonsense.

3. Improved plastics on the bottom of the door's interior that don't scratch so easily.

4 A 4x4 option on the vRS.

Estate is identical in length and width to the Hatch ;)

Just as an aside, the old RS6 Avant (estate) was actually shorter than the saloon!
