98-99 Felicia ISO Wiring

Featured Replies

Hi all...

We have two Felicia's in the family... one's a 1998 GLi and another a 1999 Lxi.. and when fitting aftermarket stereos in both with ISO stereo's they drain the car battery over a week. Refitting the standard Skoda headunit and the car is fine again! I'll add that both car batteries are in healthy order!

Has anyone else had this trouble and know of a solution?!

Thanks!

There is no switched power supply on the felicia at the back of the headunit. Both 12V feeds are always live, and what this means is that aftermarket headunits are never powered off completely causing battery drain. You will need to run the switched supply on the headunit to a supply that turns off/on with the key.

by far the easiest way to get a switched live close to the radio is from the back of the sidelights switch, the white wire (terminal 15) is switched live.

or you could get it from the black wire (pin 2) on the hazard lights switch

although i don't normally advocate using scotch locks it would be an easy way to make it removable, and make sure you test it with a multimeter or similar before you do anything, i'm not responsible if you set fire to something like i did the other day.

the switched feed (memory +12v) doesn't pull much current, so it wont affect any of the other circuitry on those systems...

alternatively you coud run a seperate wire from terminal 15 on the ignition switch, but you would need to remove a few of the trims etc to get access plus you would need to add an in-line fuse too

1. Red = Switched Power Feed

2. Yellow = Permanent Live Feed

3. Black = Earth (0v)

4. Orange = Lighting Feed (not used on most radios!)

5. Blue = Power Aerial/Amplifier switch wire

Thanks Tom, this affects my Felicia as well

So are you saying leave the red wire alone but remove the yellow wire from the iso and run a new feed to replace the yellow from the sidelights/hazard switch

yeah that's it!

yeah that's it!

Thanks Tom, I'll give it a go as soon as this freezing weather clears.
