Placed the order today.

Good Evening,

Just been browsing the internet looking at various Skoda forums and settled on this one!

My Wife and I have been looking for a replacement for her Micra, after short listing the Toyota Yaris, Mazda 2, VW Golf, Audi A3, Qashqui and the Yeti. She decided on the Yeti. I was a little scepitcal that the 1.2 would be up to the job in a car the size of the Yeti, but looking at the figures (amazing what 8 valves and turbo can do) we decided to take one for a test drive and I have to say it's a refreshing change from the usual 16 valve/small engine to have so much torque that low down in the rev range.

After visiting several dealers (one of which wasn't open between Xmas and New Year) we placed our order today - delivery in March - for a Corrida Red 1.2 SE.

I haven't run a European car in years!

Welcome to the SMOC.

Glad you like the Monster; keep wanting to have a go in the 1.2 myself, by all accounts a excellent motor.

Oh great choice of colour ;)

To second the welcome of The Plumber. Perhaps we should start a league table of colours!

Welcome to the forum. March sounds an awfully long way off! The Yeti looks nice in red, but then it does suit most colours

Thank you for the warm welcome!

The dealer said that there were two unregistered red 1.2 SE's in the country - one with tow bar preparation and the other with chrome roofbars, neither of which we particularly want/need. The factory lead time is 8-12 weeks, we're in no rush and also means we get the new registration number. Otherwise I might have been tempted to wait and pick up an ex-demostrator, saving on the VAT.

I like red as it doesn't show the dirt too much. The Micra is black, which looks great when it's clean, but stays that way for about 2 miles at this time of year.

It could be worse, I ordered my car back in May, it didn't arrive at the dealers until the 21st August and I took delivery on the 1st September. It was like being a child again waiting for Christmas to arrive!

Snap! Some 18 years of Nissan driving 2 Terranos and one X-Trail. Now with a Yeti following my Nissan Dealer's change of make to Dihatsu.

I must say going from a Micra to a Yeti is quite a step up but a very good choice. I was surprised and pleased with my change to Skoda, it may be 7 years of development (from my X-trail to the Yeti) but the Yeti is a joy to drive and a great improvement on the X-Trail. One of the better surprises is the improvement in the engine (in my case the 140 Diesel) both engines have the same cubic capacity but the Yeti has 30 bhp more with a better fuel consumption. (present Yeti average is 43 mpg with 2000 miles clocked) I have no criticism of the Nissan but the Yeti is so much better.

We were looking for a 'Family' car, so 5 doors became a prerequisite. Initial the Wife wasn't sure if she was comfortable with a larger car - okay so I did suggest a Discovery 3!

After considering a Yaris (even placing an order - unfortunately the dealer group went into administration), we looked at the Golf (just didn't make me want one and the standard spec isn't very good) I spotted the Yeti - it ticked all the boxes, even offering a small petrol engine.

The Micra has been brilliant and is so well spec'd we've had trouble finding anything to match it (keyless entry, auto wipers, climate etc.). I'm looking forward to getting the Yeti and Skoda have an enviable reputation for customer service/satisfaction.

I also have an X-trail and in 15 days I receive my corrida red 1.2... Last week i had a new test drive of the monster (just to feel that the yeti is coming..) and then took the X-Trail to go home. What a difference!..I felt i was commanding a gondola in Venice channels!... So big and SLOW, in comparison with the little bright Yeti!

How right you are!! I like the comparison. Cornering was not the X-Trail's strong point and, although it had the performance, it needed to be pushed. The change to a Yeti was a revalation.

  • 2 weeks later...

The factory lead time is 8-12 weeks

Is 8-12 weeks the standard lead time of Factory Order from Skoda?

I had heard it was only 6-8 weeks!!! :'(

I ordered my Yeti nearly two weeks ago and was told late March for delivery. If that is true then we are looking at about 10/11 weeks.

Great colour choice! B)
