Full climate control in a fabia?

Featured Replies

Just suppose you got hold of a VAG climate panel would this be all that is required to fit (cue hammer..!) to give climate control or is it all much more complicated than that? Or should I just be happy with standard A/C? I've had this climate in mk4 golf previously and it was relly good.

I thought the Fabia vRS had "climatronic" which was a kind or manual climate control?

I would think a load of motors (for the vents etc) and sensors would be needed too.

The Fabia has Climatic not climatronic.

The system is the same as what's fitted to Polo's and the new Golf S/SE. Basically you set the temp and adjust the speed as required. This maintains the selected temp for you. I leave mine set to 18 all year round, fan speed two, I only change this when demisting the front screen.

Would someone please explain the difference between "climate", "Climatic", and "Climatronic". If there's a facility to set the temperature whether by dial or up-and-down buttons and a display, doesn't that make if "climate"? Or does auto-control of the fan become necessary to make it "climate"?

Climatic as fitted to the Fabia's has one sensor in the control panel. This alters the temp mixture flap in the heater box to regulate the temp in the car to what the dial is set to.

Climatronic as fitted to Octavia's etc has multiple sensors (inc a sunlight sensor on the dash) which tell the ECU where heat or a/c is needed to keep the cabin temp at the desired level. Climatronic also has automatic fan speed regulation to bring the temp inline quicker.

Hope this clears it up a bit.

cheers all. it sounds like I'll not worry about it then and the system does the job well anyway.

Thanks - hopefully anything will be better than the set-up in my Freelander...
