Remote Key fob/central locking mishap

Featured Replies

Now then my fabia cental locking has a mind of its own!:p The car unlocks itself and locks itself fine when i put the key in the lock and turn and all doors will open and close 95% of the time but sometimes only 3 doors lock themselves which is a bit wierd! Then i try the keyfob and i have replaced the batery and still it doest want to work most of the time and when it does it wont open the doors only lock them all apart from the drivers door which it leaves open most of the time! when you try to open it nothing happens! when i lock the car from the fob i can get what sounds like the motors on the locking mechanism to click but the doors dont lock(pins dont move) and this is the same on the open sometimes when that decides to work! This is on both fobs!

Anyone have any idea what the hell is going on, i think if it gets any worse it will open and close when it wants not when i want!!:p

also i tryed the internal lock and open swith and that seems to be fine!

Central locking module, inside drivers door. Water ingress or bad connection on the multi-plug solder joints. You could try a reset, by disconnecting the car battery for a few minutes. If it does it again, module may need work.

Bit of a pig to get at depending if carrier plate is bolted or riveted to the door skin. Remove door card, carrier plate, unclip loom, remove plug from module, and inspect solder connection on edge connector, and or water ingress into module or plug pins.

A VAGCOM scan might give some codes, to help narrow it down a bit further. Not always the module, but 9 times out of 10 it is.
