Ipod

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know whether the Columbus unit can play music from an Ipod ? From my admittedly superficial reading of the tech garbage (which is mostly beyond me anyway) it would appear that an accessory cable can connect the Ipod to a standard Bolero, but what about Columbus ?

From looking at the Skoda Brochure it appears that your car (Scout?) has extra equipment to a 4x4 and as that has:-

Front armrest Jumbo box (air-conditioned storage compartment with an adjustable armrest between the front seats and 3.5mm aux. socket for MP3 players etc.)

then yes it can play music from an ipod (or indeed any other mp3 player)

If you wanted to control the ipod from the Bolero or Columbus though you'd need to get an MDI lead fitted - ask shark_90 about that

Thanks for that - but I perhaps ought to confess that I no longer have a Scout, so am just sorting various points before I get any further with a Yeti order.

While you can play an Ipod through the aux socket, I have found a much better facility with the Bolero unit is to use an SD card which slots in the front of the Bolero unit. So, save music from your ITunes onto the card and use plug the card into the Bolero. That way the Bolero screen comes into play and you can much easier see what music you are playing, or want to play. In other words, the Bolero unit becomes your Ipod. Hope this helps.

I agree with Yonderend and its certainly very cost effective - however, have a read of this first:- SD card speed

Not something that's major critical but an annoyance nonetheless.

If one of your needs is to 'mix' just as the ipod can then search for Indiana Jones' threads as both the Bolero & Columbus do it differently.
