update to 'postal remap anyone?'

Featured Replies

Went away for the weekend, drove quite err 'briskly' on the outward journey & was suprised to see a journey average of 34.6 for approx 140 miles of mainly hard driving. On the return leg, the traffic got steadily heavier. Since I had to cruise along gently in the traffic, I thought I'd zero the journey fuel comp & see what she did for the remaining 85 miles of motorways. My average speed was 63mph & it was at a consumption of 44mpg!! I was stunned! Does anyone else get those figures from a remapped MK1 vRs, high mileage or otherwise? I know Chicken Eyebrow's un mapped one can easily achieve that, but I thought mapped cars in general were thirsty? Very pleased & impressed is me!

The best I've managed on a long run is about 37MPG - on NZ state highways which are basically like UK A roads with lots of hills thrown in.

Usually I average about 28-30mpg

Down hill with a tail wind, should be easy enough :)

on a long motorway journey driving like a grandad the best ive had was 40mpg

usual average 28 - 33 mpg mixed driving

driving hard 15- 20 mpg lol

I once managed 6mpg in heavy traffic from Bradford to Leeds

Cheshire to Castle Coombe track(approx 170 miles) last April i drove like a old man, averaging 60-62mph and got 46.9mpg from my stage 2 Octy.

Driving at around 80 gives about 38mpg.

Who needs oil burners!! It just shows what a decent car can do!! I borrowed my mates 2 litre petrol C5 for 2 months & was rewarded for my gentle driving with 27mpg!
