there was a thread last year concerning this, the cure seems to be fitting springs to the handbrake levers on the calipers, i'll see if i can find the thread

I will soon have two reasonable nick rear calipers for sale. Got all the gear now to finally fit my S3 256mm rear brakes.

Its well worth trying that mod first, remember you will need to phone a VW dealer and quote both p/n one for O/S and one for N/S - they are cheap as chips - but they will need to be ordered in from factory as they are not a (held) stock item, so that will take a couple of days.

I have tried the springs. The Caliper is for the bin. As far as I can see do you need to paint new caliper green?

Hello DaveVRS,-- I have seen caliper slip-over covers ( in RED I must admit)-- They are plastic and may need a slight trim-up, would save bothering to paint and, you could colour match the fronts as well?

if it is a recon one from the motorfactors, then yes it will need painting

since you have tried the springs, the only other thing i would suggest checking is that the pads aren't jamming on the slides, and the pins are free in the caliper bracket

i think they are about £70 from TPS
