Fabia Stereo - Strange Fade

Featured Replies

Hello,

We have recently noticed an unusual thing when using the standard radio in our Fabia Classic - occassionally it seems to lose volume, possibly losing the strereo effect. This doesn't happen on tape playback and there's nothing wrong with the speakers - also, the unit was changed for another reason about six months back when we bought the car. I don't think it's simply to do with reception, as the effect is noticed sometimes when the car is stationary!

Any ideas?

D.

I haven't searched but am 99% sure that someone posted something similar re the Octavia last week.

The answer was 'overload protection' (for want of a better phrase)

MY silverline had the same stereo and I promptly ripped it out and put in a sony unit and bought the 80pence trim from skoda.

stereo in the classic is so dire i can't really believe skoda put it in, for the cost of a single cd unit or better unit is negligible, besides, grundig who make them have apparently gone into administration which means skoda may have to source a new supplier, not much help to you, but there could be new stereo's on the way.

James did you replace your stereo when your car was new?

Does this affect warranty?

Chanser - I'm not sure what you mean by 'affect the warranty' if you are putting another stereo in that probably has its own guarantee ! It's common practice.

80 pence trim? Is this the surround that enables a standard sized unit to fit? If so, a colleague paid Halfords
