Gearbox mount

Featured Replies

Hi all

Havent posted on here in ages but seen as it turns out im keeping the vrs i thought i might ask the people in the know!

Just before christmas i noticed that the car started making a knocking noise from the front when letting the clutch up or travelling at slow speeds with no throttle. whats the chances that this is the DMF.

Also when the undertray is off and looking at the engine should it slant down towards the gearbox side. I would have thought that it should have been straight

Car is a fabia VRS

Engine does slant down on passenger side, a lot in fact. Knocking could be DMF, but they usually make a hell of a racket when they fail. Could be engine and or gearbox mountings, including the dogbone mount at the back of the gearbox.

Just replaced dogbone on SDI after similar symptoms. Amazing difference like having a new gearbox and clutch. Good news is cheap and very easy to fit. Bad news is I couldn't see anything wrong with the old one (obviously weak, but how to check on the car?).
