Service – Skoda garage or independent?

Featured Replies

Just wondering how many people go to a Skoda garages for their services, and how many go to independants?

My 06 Fabia is due it’s 4th service (1st since I’ve had it) and looking for a place to get it done. The 3rd service was done at an independent garage.

If going with Skoda I’d be looking probably at the Croydon or Epsom area, or maybe Bromley, but not sure what sort of rep the Skoda garages there.

Thank s in advance for any advice or opinions !

Cheers

Before anyone points it out - I've just noticed the Reviews section !

Yes, as it has merits after the warranty has expired. Many members have enjoyed upto 50% off major repairs just outside warranty as they've used the dealership to look after their car.

No idea about Sarf Larndarn ;) but in general I'd say the choice depends more on how good the dealers and indies around you are.

For me the choice is Henry's or Parks of Hamilton so think I'll be going independent.

Where in Glasgow are you? I found that "A for Audi" in Clydebank, near the college and Clydebank railway station were pretty good. You might not save much money wrt Henry's, but calling about a cambelt change and getting a response of "£300 for a full kit, including VAT and a waterpump" was instantly confidence-inspiring.

Thanks Ken - I'm south side (Newlands) but wouldn't have a problem going to Clydebank - sorry, was it Henry's or A for Audi that quoted you £300? What has put me off Henry's was being quoted £131 for labour alone to change a heater resistor - absolute robbery for what is a 20-minute job - obviously didn't pay that. . VW Audi Repair Centre (Clydebank / Duntocher) are doing a full bhuna service for the 1.9TDI at £165 -20% discount at present - seems very good value for money.

A for Audi, where I had the cambelt and the last service done.
