More power needed from 1.9TDI 110

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me how I can get more power from my 1.9TDI 110 Elegance? Can the ECU just be chipped? If so is it easy to do & how much would it cost? Is there a down side to doing anything like this on a bog standard car?

yes you can but i would suggest getting the engine sensors all checked out first as i have done a few that have had dodgy airflow meters etc, you want to be starting with a perfect base otherwise any chipping/tuning box is only masking any faults.

tuning box's are usually quite effective and easy diy fit. you can swap them over from car to car too if you were to sell yours etc

I had my 130PD done with a generic re map by post and its awesome.

I will be getting my 110TDI later this month when i can do without the car for a few days.

I cant remember the company that done it but i have the details if you want them and they had an offer on so it only cost £99.

I know some will say go for a custom re map but im getting my re done once i finished playing with the car and this was only a stop gap

Plus to you really want to pay between £300 £400 for a custom re map when a generic one is good enough, plus its got less chance of slipping you clutch!

If you want the company details just let me know!

why would a dodgy postal £99 map be less likely to cause clutch slip than a custom map where the mapper is constantly monitoring parameters ??

I ll never understand why people go straight for the cheapest option?? if you needed a heart transplant would you pay some bloke down the pub £25 ? or use a quaified experienced doctor for £100 ?

The reason i had it done this way is because firstly it has less power than a custom remap and from the guys i asked on here many said that after thay had the car re mapped they had to have the clutch done

Secondly i will be using this PD130 to build a 4x4 diesel VRs and will be getting the remap done again after ive had the engine rebuilt including a new turbo larger intercooler and a multi plate clutch so im hoping it will be around the 240 mark!

I used to build and re map BMW'smainly m3's so i understand it all but it just seamed for what i wanted a cheap generic map was ideal!

Get a tuning box mate, you can pick up a good one off e-bay like I did for 50-100 quid.Iput one on my 90 bhp octy and the difference was amazing

I take it you mean one of those cheap boxes with a risistor in, that fools the car into thinking its cool thus putting in more fuel?

ot a good idea!!!!!

Fair enough apart from a custom map (by us anyway) is just that, so if you wanted a low boost clutch friendly map, thats exactly what you get emoticon-0148-yes.gif

No , not a cheap resistor, you can pick up a reasonable second hand one on e bay, -just make sure you read the info and many of them have a website to read up on
