lowering springs only

Featured Replies

i was wondering if i bought lowering springs only, would it damage my shocks over a certain time. i was thinking of lowering my fabia around 40mm

It probably will increase damper wear dramtically. I would save up and get uprated dampers as well. Also you dont say what model you have, but if its a vRS, then I'm pretty sure 25mm is the maximum recommended drop for one of those, or you could damage the sump.

i've got a 1.2 HTP fabia, i was thinking of getting 16inch alloys and i thought around a 40mm drop would fill up the gap of the arch more. Some people say it damages the dampers and some people say it doesn't so i don't know who believe.

Can't speak for a 1.4, but I've been running a Furby vRS on standard dampers with Eibach springs (lowered by 25mm) for about 7,000 miles with no ill effects.

My old 1.4 16v was lowered 30mmon standard shocks with no problems whatsoever. Only thing was the front end was a bit bouncy as the shocks couldn't really cope. Would reccomend saving up and going for new shocks.

The vRS can get away with it as the standard shocks are uprated anyway. ;)

I had my previous car lowered 35mm, and the shocks are still fine after 70k miles.
