How long do your brakes last?

Featured Replies

Well, just had the fiat in for its 90k service (cambelt time) and inspection (a reasonable £375 I think from my local fiat dealer) and I needed new rear pads... was happy enough, they were OE and had done 91,500 miles, didn't need discs they were fine! Well, I'll change them again at 182,000 miles then! lol...

I generally see off a set of front pads in about 12000 miles and rears will do 25000. No idea why i get through them so quick :giggle:

LOL, when I had my Fabia my dad and I replaced the pads and front discs at 55K ish. There was nothing wrong with them but did them anyway, didn't cost a lot. The dealer seemd absolutely amazed that they had lasted that long.

My Octavia is still on it's originals after 54K. And it occassionally gets driven with some spirit.... ;)

lol... just means you're driving it properly ;)

My Octy PD140 is still on the original disks and pads, both front and rear at 91K miles.

school report, must try harder ;)

Living around here, it's deep corrosion pits that tend to kill fronts; the rears did 80_000 or so, which isn't bad on something that wieghs about 1500kg!

91k? 9.1k is good going for me :o

What, before they catch alight.

nah thats 9.1km :p

funny you should say that, my mate took me with him when he bought his Volvo S60 T5, asked me to drive it as he didnt know what that sort of power under the right foot felt like. Stopped to swap and let him drive back, the brakes were smoking just a little!! :|

Little 1.4 tdi -front pads changed at 55k -with about 2.5mm on worst . ( last MOT advised changing "soon" , some 15k later  ) .DISCS - checked when pads changed - 20.5 after 55k - so midway -still got advisory -and very shocked MOT man ,when I told him I'd checked them -think he thought he was on an extra job.And possibly the pads would have lasted a bit longer ,but for past few years I've been heading up north ( that's up Loch Lomand /Glencoe / Inverness way , and in a hurry) - so that's a lot of toe/heel /change down/brake stuff ,on the bends /windy bits .

Pads around 30-40k, disks about double that usually.

91k? How the hell did you manage that?

till i take my foot off the peddle, they oddley stop working till then

dang nabbit thats where i've been going wrong with my left foot braking, must remember to take my foot off the pedal afterwards :p

Thought I was doing well at 75k on the originals on the Fabia vRS until I read some of these posts. :o

Brakes are for emergency use only.
