vRS alarm problems

Featured Replies

Evening all,

Having a few problems with the alarm going off at random intervals, I've checked the rear wiper jet to make sure it's not leaking but it seems fine no water leaking etc which can cause problems. I have also noticed that when I lock the car now the lights do not flash sometimes? I've checked the boot and bonnet switch but I'm unable to tell if they are knackerd.

Anyone have the same issues or advise.

Thanks in advance.

Howard

Hi there mate,

What you want to do is to open the bonet and spray wd40 over the press down pin for the alarm there and the same in the boot, near the lock.

I have intermittant alarm problens and this solved it.

same with the doors.

Ben

No lights when setting alarm, bonnet or boot switch. Bonnet is the most common, as it gets a fair old hammering from salt spray/water. Drown it with WD40 and slam the bonnet shut.

Checked this morning and the intermittent wipers did not work, opened the bonnet slammed closed and then they worked (But alarm still went off a few mins later?).

Am I right in thinking the bonnet switch is naff??

Cheers

Help my 1.9 Tdi Elegance Estate is also having intermittant alarm activations. It did it two years ago but a new interior protection sensor cured it! The latest problems started the other week whilst covered in heaps of melting snow. This morning it set off again whilst raining outside. The key fob will stop it but after a few seconds it will set off again with all the neighbours looking out of their windows to see what the row is all about! Getting in the drivers door starting the engine for a few minutes and then re-locking seems to stop it each time? Anyone got any ideas what is causing it so I can get it long term fixed? I did wonder if it is the battery breaking down as the alam does monitor battery charge?

Code scan will tell you which sensor is causing the alarm to trigger.

I'm guessing a code scan will mean going to the dealer and getting it plugged in?

Found on the net that the Fabia estate sometimes suffers with tailgate lock / alarm switch problems. Does anyone know the exact problem / issue with it?

Took my car into Dennis Horton & Sons Skoda in Lincoln today. Without any appointment they did not hesitate to take my car in and kept it for the day whilst I was at work. The alarm fault turned out to be the siren unit itself which they showed in stock. However the computer was wrong and the part was actually due to arrive tomorrow. This part is now going to be reserved for my car and will be fitted and ready tomorrow (£180 fitted). They also noted that my two day old brand new silver Bosch battery from Halfords failed a voltage drop test. Me thinks that will be going back to Halfords ASAP. Particularly when the Halfords fitter took 1 hour to try and fit it, dropping the battery clamp down then engine bay in the process. And when he finally went inside the store to get help I used his tools to finish the job myself much to his surprise when he came back out to see the bonnet down! I think Halfords need to do some staff training quick!
