Front parking sensors - only in reverse?

Featured Replies

Hello to all you Briskodians out there, newbie post follows:

I'm hoping to collect my "new" Superb 2.0 TDi CR SE (ok, it's 9-months old, 2,200 miles) in the next few days. The car has been fitted with front parking sensors and Park Assist. Thanks to members' posts and links on this site pointing to the owner's manual, I've been able to get a good idea in advance about how to use all the new toys, including the parking sensors and Park Assist. I'm still not clear on one thing, though; can the front sensors be used when moving forwards, eg when parking up to a wall or other cars, as all that I've read seems to imply that they only work when reverse gear has been selected?

I've already learned a lot from this forum about what the car can and can't do - thanks everyone.

I presume they'll be similar to mine on the Octavia so the answer is yes.

There is probably a button on the console that you'll see lights up when reverse is selected. Press that same button when needing to use the front sensors and it will turn them on/off.

Both sets of sensors turn off automatically when you move off - but you'll know that anyway

Thanks john999boy.

Yes, the car does indeed have that button on the console - I misunderstood it's function but you've cleared it up for me. I think I need to RTFM for a second time, although it will be easier to undertsand when I have the car AND the manual in the same place and at the same time!

Cheers, BlackCat3000
