fuel trim malfunction

Featured Replies

car been at garage (not skoda dealers) for 2 weeks and they can't sort it. guy can't find any air leaks, splits or cracks. cleared previous codes by replacing manifold pressure sensor and reset throttle position and checked lambda sensor but he can't clear this code. car goes back into lh mode after 5 mins of running. could it be the throttle body? is it worth forking out for a new one as a gamble?

fed up now and getting depressed. i want my car back, i don't want to scrap it.

Ross tech wiki doesn't have this fault code.

post cat Lambda probe, air leaks in pipework/manifold, maybe ECU software update required

or brake servo/hose, or faulty MAF

do you mean a fuse as in the fuse box on the dashboard next to drivers side door?

Indeed i do, you need to check all of them with a multimeter, as it wont be listed in the owners manual

just spoke to the garage and read him all the advice. turns out that he had another fabia in yesterday to do an mot and he whipped out the throttle body and put it in our car and cleared the fault codes. He ran it for half an hour with no probs and no fault codes. sounds like the throttle body then. Hoorah. He's ordered a new one.

Thanks for the advice. i'll keep you posted!

he might of run the engine for 1/2 an hour, but did he take the car out and drive it ?

i think you already mentioned that the fault reappears after being driven

none of the forums i read the other night whilst searching this fault mentioned that a throttle body was the cause of the fault

i just hope he is right for your sake, otherwise it is getting a bit expensive for your pocket

I ve replied using my 12 years experience as a skoda technician (last 3 as master tech) and my time running unit18 and in that time i ve replaced a huge amount of throttle bodys, it may not turn out to be the cause of the problem in this case but it is however very likely, i really wouldnt rely on forum diagnostics too muchemoticon-0148-yes.gif

yup well said. like you i have been doing skoda's for 15 years (was a dealer then service agent now just specialise lol)

i would go with the throttlebody too as they are a right pain in the rs and will cause lots of probs like said

fair enough, point taken

having never actually worked on one i shouldn't really be answering the OPs question, i just thought i could do a little searching on Google just to see what came up, and post up peoples cures for the DTC, something the OP could have done also

OK. so here's the update. garage put on new throttle body which ran ok for 20 mins then went back into lh mode!! so he sent it back and advised me to take it to skoda garage which i did. they unplugged ecu and throttle body overnight then reconnected and reset everything and have run it for an hour and road tested it for 40 mins without any bother or fault codes but cos they haven't replaced any parts they say they can't guarantee the work and want us to take it home and try and run it as normal. so far so good - no warning lights, no limp home!! watch this space.

thanks for the update
