Torque damper

Featured Replies

I was wondering if their was one of these available for the Fabia VRS?

Seen how much my engine moved at the RR day on Sunday and it shocked me to say the least! I never expected engine movement quite so severe. I know my mounts are fine considering they've had 43k of use the last 11k with me being quite hard.

Anyone ever seen one available? Would this be something people would be interested in if i could find/get one that works?

Thats not the kinda torque damper i'm meaning lol

Thats a gearbox mount and all my mounts are fine :)

A torque damper is like a shock absorber that would bolt onto you're engine then bolt to you're bulkhead or suspension turret etc and it absorbs engine movement making it almost solid and can actually help increase throttle response as you're engines not throwing itself back as severely giving you a bit of a better launch

They are mainly common in jap cars, my mate had one in his Civic VTi and it was a big difference between him not having it and when he fitted it

these will do the same, i.e. stop the engine from moving excessively

never heard of anything else like what you are thinking about

The mounts above shown do a very similar job, they are quite possibly the closest you will get

This is the kinda thing i'm thinking of

This is the kinda thing i'm thinking of

That is probably home made & the downside will be massive vibration & harshness, Try the solid dogbone mount & see how much your car jumps about & the steering wheel goes mental @ Tick over.. Trouble with making things Taughter, SOmething else that is weaker then Give's up ........

We use Gas dampers on The Motorbikes steering to help slow down Tank Slappers & make them more controllable :D

That one in the pic isn't home made these are readily available for jap cars and trust me they make no difference to the comfort of the car. I've first hand experience of that fact

I'm gonna look into making my own home made one though like a guy on a forum I use done for his fiesta using a motorbike shock and spring and attatched it to his strut brace. Or if theirs one for the jap cars that will do the job I'll look into that

I don't see the point changing my dog bone mount when the one on the car is perfect :)

I know what you're on about but I've never seen any available for the Fabia. Like you say it mainly seems to be Jap stuff that you get them for.

I don't see the point changing my dog bone mount when the one on the car is perfect :)

but that is where all the engine twisting movement is reduced, so putting in the uprated bush from Awesome will negate the need for extra dampers at the top of the engine

I'm gonna look into all options and take it from their but due to tight cashflow just now it'll be april at least
