Engine modifications is a grey term; as Geoff said' date=' my engine is exactly the same.

It's what you define as the engine. ECU upgrades are allowed with direct line as they do not have a option for it thus no premium increase. But caled it "chipped" and it's a hike....terminology is the root of all these problems. Still awiting some post; but as I'm away it might be there....more later I promise.[/quote']

I agree engine is not modified and if you have gone the AMD or REVO route your ECU is not changed. It just has different software.

It's things like this that lead to people not bothering with insurance and causing the rest of us to have to pay higher premiums.

Hiya guys,

Just thought you might like to see some other opinions and problems with LV :thumbdwn:

Here's some discussion from the Ford Focus Owners Club.

I was all set to go with LV myself last month, but started feeling a little uncomfortanble when I got different versions of what they would & wouldn't cover, depending on which monkey answered the phone.

I am SO, So glad I left well alone & went with Chris Knott!

Cheers

I am awiting the postman for an offical response. I hope to be able to publish it, but there are minute differences in policys so it might be taken the wrong way etc by some. I hope LV will send me somthing to publish.
Have LV got their act together yet, Colin? :(

If I were to go for a Jabba remap, what is the correct term to tell the insurance man?

If I were to go for a Jabba remap, what is the correct term to tell the insurance man?

I presume you just tell them it's been remapped.

I did try LV but due to my speeding conviction they would not touch me on a modded car. Though I was told that they would allow "remaps and filters". I went with another insurance company that was cheaper than most of the others based on a standard Furby VRS

New insurer when next years renewal comes around then...

SX owners were told exactly the same thing as to me....no need to confirm mods. :(

Green Flag anyone?

Green Flag?

I've just asked Chris Knott for a quote. They use a number of insurers including Highway. Mention Briskoda if you speak. 0800 917 2274

LV are going to be rather surprised when the members of Briskoda, Cupranet, SXOC etc desert them en mass when renewal time comes around.

Hope they have fun extracting the bullets from their feet...

As already touched on in a.n.other post I can live with that. I don't know why but I never really imagined that LV would replace all my fancy bits in the event of a huge claim. I just wanted a reasonable price for insurance on a car that just happens to be modified. Do you know what I mean?
